In 2026, Dong Nai Province continues to be identified as the year of transport infrastructure development. In line with this orientation, a series of major transport infrastructure projects have been launched, groundbreaking ceremonies held, and technical openings conducted right from the beginning of the year.

Accelerating from the start of the year

On January 15, in Dong Nai Province, groundbreaking, commencement, and technical opening ceremonies were held for seven projects across the province to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Notably, among these seven projects, four are in the transport infrastructure sector, including key projects connecting Dong Nai with Ho Chi Minh City, such as the Cat Lai Bridge and the Long Hung Bridge.

According to the plan, on February 3, Dong Nai Province will continue to organize groundbreaking, commencement, and technical opening ceremonies for five projects, including three transport projects: the technical opening of Thong Nhat Bridge under the Bien Hoa Central Axis Road Project; the commencement of the Cai Riverside Road Project (road section); and the technical opening of the Long Khanh Ring Road 1 Project.

Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ho Van Ha said that 2026 has been identified by Dong Nai Province as the year of transport infrastructure, aimed at completing a synchronous, modern transport network and strengthening regional connectivity to serve socio-economic development.

Therefore, alongside the projects already scheduled for groundbreaking, commencement, and technical opening, a series of other transport infrastructure projects are also being fast-tracked to complete the necessary procedures for construction.

In Dong Nai’s transport infrastructure development orientation, enhancing connectivity with Long Thanh International Airport is one of the province’s strategic priorities. Accordingly, the projects to upgrade and expand Provincial Road 769 and Provincial Road 773, as well as the construction of Provincial Highway 770B to connect localities within the province to Long Thanh Airport, are currently finalizing investment procedures. All three projects are expected to commence in 2026. At the same time, regional and intra-provincial connectivity projects such as Ring Road 4 – Ho Chi Minh City (the section passing through the province) and the road linking Ma Da Bridge to Ring Road 4 – Ho Chi Minh City are also being pushed to accelerate investment procedures for commencement in 2026.

Gradually completing the strategic transport infrastructure system

According to Nguyen Van Ut, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, throughout the development process, Dong Nai Province has placed great emphasis on transport infrastructure connectivity. Without such connectivity, development would not be possible.

In Dong Nai’s orientation for developing a strategic transport infrastructure network, transport corridors connecting Long Thanh Airport, intra-provincial links, and connections between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City are given top priority to link growth poles and expand the province’s development space.

In 2026, many nationally and provincially significant transport infrastructure projects are set to be completed, such as the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau and Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressways; Ring Road 3 – Ho Chi Minh City; and projects to build Provincial Road 25C, upgrade and expand Provincial Road 25B, the Bien Hoa Central Axis Road, the Dong Nai Riverside Road, and Long Khanh Ring Road 1.

Truong Thi Huong Binh, a member of the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Department of Finance, said that transport infrastructure has been identified as one of the key drivers of socio-economic development in Dong Nai Province during the 2025–2030 term. Dong Nai has a synchronous transport infrastructure system with all five modes of transport: road, rail, maritime, inland waterway, and air, with Long Thanh Airport being one of the largest-scale projects in Southeast Asia.

According to Truong Thi Huong Binh, Dong Nai also holds the geographic advantage of bordering Ho Chi Minh City along nearly the entire western boundary of the province. This feature is a distinct advantage that creates significant opportunities for transport connectivity, trade, industry, and services, while also enabling a strong diffusion of investment capital, human resources, and technology from the country’s largest economic center.

At present, to realize development momentum from the transport infrastructure system, a series of nationally significant, regionally linked key projects are being implemented in the province, such as expressways: Bien Hoa – Vung Tau, Ben Luc – Long Thanh, Gia Nghia – Chon Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City – Chon Thanh – Hoa Lu, Dau Giay – Tan Phu; the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway; and Ring Road 3 – Ho Chi Minh City.
