Approximately 458 billion VND allocated to care for revolutionary contributors and vulnerable groups on Tet holiday

On the morning of January 6, Comrade Le Truong Son, Member of the Standing Board of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, chaired a working session with relevant agencies on plans to care for and deliver gifts on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2026 (the Year of the Horse) and in celebration of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The program targets people with meritorious service to the revolution, beneficiaries of social protection, social pension recipients, and other vulnerable groups across the province.

According to a report by the Department of Finance, in implementation of Resolution No. 26/2025/NQ-HDND dated December 10, 2025, which stipulates beneficiaries and support levels for the Lunar New Year in Dong Nai province (Resolution 26), Dong Nai plans to allocate approximately 458 billion VND for gift-giving and support on the occasion of Tet holiday.

Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs Doan Thi Thu Thuy said that, from the state budget allocated under Resolution 26, the department has reported to provincial leaders on beneficiary groups such as people with meritorious service to the revolution. These include individuals who took part in revolutionary activities before August 1945; those who participated in resistance wars for national liberation, national defense, and international missions (receiving one-off allowances); individuals who rendered assistance to the revolution (receiving one-off allowances); Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; and Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces.

Tet gifts will also be provided to officials receiving pensions, beneficiaries of social protection, and village elders and prestigious individuals. In addition to gifts under Resolution 26, several proposals for Tet gifts outside the resolution have been put forward. The plan for Tet visits and gift distribution is scheduled to take place from January 26 to February 9.

After hearing opinions from relevant sectors, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Truong Son requested close coordination among departments and agencies to review beneficiary lists and avoid overlaps in gift recipients. He also called for a review and submission of recommendations to provincial leadership regarding visit and gift-giving delegations for special units such as the police, military and border guard forces, particularly border guard posts and other units maintaining combat readiness during the holiday.

Le Truong Son noted that the Department of Home Affairs and relevant agencies should review lists and plans from previous years in which provincial leaders paid visits and presented Tet gifts to units outside the province, such as Military Region 7, Coast Guard Region 3 and Naval Region 2, in order to supplement and reconcile them to avoid omissions or duplication. He also requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai province and relevant sectors to coordinate with the provincial Military Command in reviewing and rechecking plans for the “Soldiers’ Spring” and “Warm Border Spring for Local Communities” programs, and to develop specific plans to ensure Lunar New Year care for forces on duty and maintaining combat readiness.

Le Truong Son requested that the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, together with the provincial Labor Federation, review the task of caring for workers on Tet holiday, report on the situation, and develop coordinated plans to ensure effective implementation.
