Dong Nai 2 bridge project investor to be selected under special cases

On December 10, at the 8th year-end session, Dong Nai provincial People’s Council approved a draft Resolution on the investment policy for the Long Hung Bridge project (Dong Nai 2 Bridge) under a public–private partnership (PPP) model.

The project has a total investment of nearly 11.5 trillion VND. It will be implemented under the PPP model with a build–transfer (BT) contract, with payments made from revenues generated by public land auctions or from public investment capital.

This is a Group-A project and a special-grade road and bridge work, with a total length of approximately 9.8 km. Of this, the Dong Nai 2 Bridge section will be about 3.5 km long, with a cross-sectional width of 36 meters and a design speed of 80 km/h. The starting point is in Long Phuoc Ward (Ho Chi Minh City), and the endpoint connects to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway in Tam Phuoc Ward and An Phuoc Commune (Dong Nai Province). The implementation period is set for the 2026–2028 period.

The project’s investor will be selected under special cases due to its urgent nature. The Resolution requires the investor to reduce the BT contract value by at least 5 percent to ensure economic efficiency.

This is one of the essential and urgent projects aimed at enhancing connectivity between Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City, reducing congestion on existing routes, and meeting infrastructure needs once Long Thanh International Airport becomes operational. The construction of Dong Nai 2 Bridge plays a crucial role in boosting economic growth, promoting urban development, and improving the competitiveness of Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, and the region. A potential investor has already submitted a proposal to implement the project.
