Farmers in Dong Nai, known for their creativity and skills in applying science and technology, have successfully cultivated a diverse range of specialty fruits with high market value. The 2025 Agricultural Achievements Exhibition provides a platform for cooperatives and farmers to showcase their unique garden products directly to consumers.

A wide range of specialty fruits

The diversity and richness of fresh fruits on display at the exhibition attracted significant attention from visitors. Many localities selected unique specialty fruits to highlight their booths.

Vo Van Tai from the Loc Thanh Farmers’ Association said: “At the exhibition, our locality presented many key agricultural products such as tiliacora triandra (green grass jelly), pineapples, and pomelos. Among the standout specialty fruits, the date palm drew the most consumer interest. This is a new specialty crop in our area, attracting interest from local farmers, with some gardeners successfully cultivating varieties originating from North Africa and the Middle East. Several date palm farms have already begun harvesting, producing attractive and high-quality fruit. Therefore, we chose this specialty fruit to promote to consumers both within and outside the province.”

The agricultural booth of Nghia Trung commune also impressed visitors by showcasing a variety of forest products, including wild bananas, rattan shoots, and bamboo shoots. Additionally, the commune’s fresh fruits, including Pouteria caimito (abiu), soursop, pomelo, and cantaloupe, drew strong consumer interest.

Nguyen Duy Nam, Chairman of the Nghia Trung Farmers’ Association, noted: “The commune has expanded golden milk apple cultivation to around 10 hectares, with many orchards now yielding high-quality harvests. This fruit was selected as a highlight in the Gift Basket Competition at the Dong Nai Agricultural Achievements Exhibition to promote our local specialty fruits to a wider audience of consumers.”

Promoting safe and high-quality local fruits

Most of the products honored as typical agricultural products of 2025 are specialty fresh fruits grown within Dong Nai province. Among them are well-known varieties, such as the sweet pomelo with orange leaves and the Tan Trieu green-peel pomelo, both of which have been granted geographical indication protection.

Nguyen Minh Vuong, Director of Vuong Huong Trading and Service Co., Ltd. (located in Tan Trieu ward), shared that his company has partnered with local farmers to establish pomelo cultivation areas in accordance with VietGAP and organic standards. The company’s products have earned a 4-star OCOP certification (One Commune One Product program), helping to boost the reputation of local specialty fruits. In addition to traditional distribution channels, the business actively participates in trade promotion activities. It expands sales through e-commerce platforms and social media, bringing Dong Nai’s signature fruits to consumers nationwide.

Not only have farmers invested in specialty fruit cultivation, but many localities have also successfully attracted agricultural enterprises to develop large-scale production areas, enabling them to meet the growing demands of export markets.

Thach Ni, Chairman of the Thuan Loi Commune Farmers’ Association, introduced several high-value local fruits, including mandarins, pomelos, durians, oranges, cantaloupes, and Pouteria caimito (the abiu), as well as export bananas. The commune’s advantage lies in its ability to attract businesses to invest in large-scale, well-organized farms that apply scientific and technological innovations to ensure safe production. These specialty fruits are sold across many provinces and cities nationwide and are also supplied to export markets.

According to Thach Ni, at the 2025 Dong Nai Agricultural Achievements Exhibition, fresh fruit products received significant attention from visitors eager to learn more about their origins. The event was an excellent opportunity for localities across the province to promote and introduce their specialty fruits to urban consumers.

The booth of Trang Trai Viet Trading Co., Ltd. (located in Xuan Loc commune), featuring yellow passion fruit and organic cantaloupe, also attracted many visitors. The company invests in high-tech organic farming, using an in-house method to create sterile soil for greenhouse cultivation. This method combines heat-treated sand, which eliminates pathogens and fungi, with organic fertilizers.

Tran Quang Tinh, Director of Trang Trai Viet Trading Co., Ltd., stated that all of the company’s products have passed safety tests and meet the standards for organic fruits and vegetables, with no traces of inorganic fertilizers detected. He emphasized that the company’s goal is to produce delicious, safe, and high-quality fruits for the domestic market, which, with over 100 million people, still holds significant growth potential.
