“For more than two years now, with debt, illness, and the fear of seeing my children forced to quit school… I have felt as though I were struggling in a raging current, exhausted and on the verge of sinking. Today, receiving this financial support feels like being handed a life buoy at the very moment I needed it most. I sincerely thank the program and all benefactors, not only for the material assistance but also for giving my family hope for a brighter future,” shared Dang Thuy Linh emotionally at the “Aspiration for Life” support-giving event held on November 26.
The program is jointly organized by Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio–Television, the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients, and Unit Advertising Joint Stock Company (Ho Chi Minh City). Tan Phuoc Khanh Steel Co., Ltd. is the main sponsor.
The event was attended by representatives of the authorities and mass organizations of Dong Xoai Ward, the leadership of Tien Thanh 3 Neighborhood, volunteer teams, charity groups, and benefactors.

Opening the program, Nguyen Duc Tien, Head of the “Aspiration for Life” organizing committee, stated: While the entire country is turning its attention to the central region struck by storms and floods, the 'Aspiration for Life' program could not turn away from Linh’s family, who are facing a silent yet equally devastating 'storm'. Had the team not arrived in time, this small family might have been swept away in the whirlpool of financial strain and emotional exhaustion.
As though gaining the strength to release her burdens, Linh recounted the sleepless nights she spent watching over her husband, Nguyen Ngoc Hieu (45), who suffered a stroke and has been bedridden for two years. Beside her is her mother-in-law, Pham Thi Bieng (69), who was injured in a traffic accident and suffered a hip fracture.
Desperate for survival, in addition to her main job as a supermarket sales clerk, Linh sought extra work, earning just over 6 million VND per month, far too little to cover medical expenses, daily living costs, and an enormous debt that has reached nearly 700 million VND. Beyond the financial hardship, what pains her most is the fear that her children may have to drop out of school.
Not allowing Linh’s tears to fall any longer, benefactors and representatives of volunteer organizations stepped forward to support the family. One by one, boards of sponsorship, envelopes of cash, essential supplies, and immense love were offered. “Accompanying the program, and as the local authority, we will review social welfare policies to provide maximum support for Linh in finding a stable income and ensuring that her children can continue their schooling,” shared Nguyen Thi Bich Thuan, Vice Chairwoman of Dong Xoai Ward People’s Committee.

The total support amount of 127.8 million VND has become a timely lifebuoy, helping Linh’s family escape a dire situation. The organizing committee, after discussion with the family and local authorities, agreed on the allocation plan as follows: 7.8 million VND for the family’s living expenses in December; 20 million VND to pay interest on medical loans; and the remaining 100 million VND to be placed in a savings account as a reserve fund for Hieu’s long-term treatment.
The support ceremony concluded with warmth and heartfelt emotions. Everyone in the delegation silently reminded themselves: Life may always present harsh trials, pushing people to the brink. But in the darkest moments, human kindness lights the spark of hope and creates miracles. Indeed, compassion and hope have no limits, and “Aspiration for Life” will continue connecting kindhearted individuals to help poor households find their way back to life.
