The Dong Nai Department of Health has set a target of reaching 10 doctors per 10,000 people and 30.5 hospital beds per 10,000 people by the end of 2025. The goal is outlined in the 5-year Socio-Economic Report (2021–2025) and the key objectives and solutions for the 2025–2030 term of the province’s health sector.

Currently, the province has 9.8 doctors per 10,000 people, with all commune health stations staffed by doctors. More than 15,000 medical personnel are working across public and private healthcare facilities. During the 2021–2022 period, the former Dong Nai Province implemented several incentive policies, including one-time attraction bonuses for 20 doctors, housing rental support for 97 doctors, and additional financial assistance for 50 female doctors. In 2022 alone, 904 doctors received financial support, and five resident doctors received funding for further training. Meanwhile, in the former Binh Phuoc Province, from 2020 to mid-2024, 21 doctors were sent for Level II specialty training, 111 doctors for Level I specialty programs, and 20 medical assistants were supported to pursue medical degrees. Additionally, 36 doctors were successfully recruited through timely financial incentive policies.

To meet people’s healthcare needs, the healthcare sector continues to train and assign personnel based on their professional capacity, thereby improving the quality of medical examinations, treatment, and grassroots healthcare services.

Accordingly, the Department of Health has strengthened cooperation with medical institutions in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces in the Southeast region to receive support in expertise, training, and technology transfer. At the same time, it has worked closely with universities, particularly Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, to organize postgraduate and professional training programs for healthcare workers, especially at the grassroots level.

Healthcare units have also implemented two-way staff rotation between district- and commune-level facilities to ensure work efficiency and enhance professional capacity. These efforts have yielded tangible results, boosting the overall quality of healthcare services in the province.

Currently, Dong Nai has 8 central and ministerial-level hospitals and institutes, 3 provincial general hospitals, 3 regional general hospitals, 5 specialized hospitals, 6 provincial specialized centers, 22 regional medical centers, and 95 commune and ward health stations.

In addition to the public system, the private healthcare network has grown rapidly, comprising 12 private general and specialized hospitals, 111 private general clinics, over 2,000 specialized clinics, and more than 4,000 pharmacies and medical service establishments, with most of these establishments concentrated in urban areas. These facilities operate stably and meet the growing healthcare needs of the province’s population.
