Conference of outstanding elderly officials and members marks the 35th International Day of Older Persons

On the morning of October 8 in Tran Bien ward, the Dong Nai Provincial Association of the Elderly held a conference to honor outstanding elderly officials and members, marking the 35th anniversary of the "International Day of Older Persons" (October 1, 1991-2025). The event also launched the "Action Month for Vietnamese Elderly" and outlined key tasks moving forward.

At the conference, delegates reviewed the significance of the International Day of Older Persons, acknowledging the positive contributions of elderly seniors to the province’s economic, cultural, and social development in recent years.

The conference also heard Nguyen Van Long, Senior Lecturer and Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial Association of the Elderly, present the plan for the Action Month for the Vietnamese Elderly in 2025, along with several key tasks set by the Central Association of the Elderly.

The content outlined the plan to implement the National Strategy on Older Persons until 2035, with a vision extending to 2045, as well as the initiative to implement the Project on the participation of elderly residents in promoting digital transformation, green transformation, entrepreneurship, and job creation.

Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial Association of the Elderly, expressed her hope that elderly officials and members in the province would stay united and uphold the "Old Age - Bright Example" spirit to overcome challenges following the merger. This effort would enable the association to be fully reorganized and operate stably, further enhancing the care for and promotion of the role of elderly seniors.
