Focusing on digital transformation and green transition

Digital and green transformation are gradually becoming two key drivers of growth in the transport sector, especially as standards and regulations aimed at minimizing environmental impact receive increasing attention. In addition, the rise of electric vehicles has prompted many businesses to begin shifting investment toward more sustainable and cost-efficient transport business models.

Ha Hong Vien, director of Ngoc Thanh Auto Trading and Services Co., Ltd. (Xuan Hoa commune, Dong Nai province), said the company is focusing on developing plans to adopt both the sharing economy and green economy models in its passenger transport operations.

To align with the emissions reduction roadmap, the company has invested in and expanded the use of electric vehicles on the service route between Xuan Hoa and Ho Chi Minh city. It has piloted electric vehicles for passenger transport and plans to invest in 10 new 7-seat electric automobiles in 2025 to serve passengers better.

In parallel with investing in and expanding its electric vehicle fleet, the company is also planning to implement a sharing economy model to optimize service routes and help customers reduce travel costs on the passenger transport routes it operates.

Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang, Director of An Phu Truong Thinh Co., Ltd. (Tam Hiep ward, Dong Nai province), which specializes in passenger transportation, tourism, and airline ticket agency services, stated that in recent years, the company has focused on applying transformation in system operations and providing passenger transportation services. The company has strengthened the diversification of ticket booking and multi-channel payment methods through its website and online bus ticket booking applications such as booking.com and vexere.com; messaging via Zalo OA; and integrating ticket booking and payment on digital banking applications to optimize utilities for customers.

“Currently, the company primarily provides passenger transportation services, picking up and dropping off passengers on the route from Bien Hoa area to Tan Son Nhat Airport. In 2026, when Long Thanh Airport becomes operational, the company plans to explore additional routes from Bien Hoa to Long Thanh Airport and from Long Thanh Airport to Tan Son Nhat Airport. The company will focus on investing in electric vehicles for contract vehicles and shuttle vehicles, while also developing a plan to convert to using electric vehicles according to a suitable roadmap for several tours and routes.”

Nguyen Duy Hung, vice chairman of the Dong Nai Import-Export Association, stated that the push for digital and green transformation among logistics and transport service enterprises is no longer just a trend but has become an essential requirement in an era of rapid technological change and increasingly intense competition. He emphasized that digital and green transformation constitutes a dual transition, in which greening conditions reflect a business's deep commitment to environmental responsibility and the sustainable development of the community and society.

According to statistics from Dong Nai Province, revenue from transport, warehousing, and transport support services in the first eight months of 2025 is estimated at over 32.6 trillion VND, an increase of 17.3 percent compared to the same period last year. Of this, passenger transport revenue rose by 18.6 percent, freight transport by 19.3 percent, and warehousing and transport support services by more than 12 percent year-on-year.

Promoting the development of modern logistics services

With the advantage of its strategic location and numerous industrial parks and clusters, Dong Nai has many favorable conditions for developing transportation and logistics services. In recent times, both freight and passenger transportation activities in the province have continued to grow due to rising demand for moving goods to support production and consumption. In addition, the accelerated progress of several key national construction projects in the province has significantly increased the demand for transporting construction materials.

Nguyen Xuan Cu, Director of Phu Cuong A Road Transport Co., Ltd. (Tam Hiep ward, Dong Nai province), said that transportation services in the province still have significant room for growth, especially following the provincial merger. The company currently operates around 65 vehicles, primarily serving freight transportation services within the industrial zones. To improve business efficiency and performance, the company has focused on investing in digital technologies and digitizing its vehicle operations and management processes. This initiative has allowed the company to enhance its competitiveness and optimize operating costs.

According to numerous experts, to establish a green supply chain, following the phases of implementing green production, economical production, pollution reduction, and utilizing eco-friendly materials, green logistics emerges as the next stage. At this juncture, businesses and communities develop and implement green transportation systems to deliver green products to consumers.

Nguyen Duy Hung, vice chairman of the Dong Nai Import-Export Association, added that to support and accompany transport and logistics businesses in accelerating digital and green transformation, the province needs to expand communication and training efforts focused on dual transformation. He also emphasized the need for additional green finance policies to help businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises with limited financial capacity, adopt green practices more rapidly and advance the overall transition.
