The recent celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 left the people with special emotions. In the field of music, patriotism was elevated and deeply rooted in the hearts of many through meticulously produced works, created from the dedication and heartfelt commitment of artists.
Composer Nguyen Van Chung: “Hotter” with revolutionary music “hits”
Composer Nguyen Van Chung has long been loved by audiences for his songs such as Nhat ky cua me (Mother’s diary), Vang trang khoc (Crying moon), and Dem trang tinh yeu (Moonlit Night of Love) ... In recent years, however, his name has become even "hotter" with “hit” songs that praise the revolution and express love for the homeland and the nation.
With melodies that are gentle yet powerful and spirited, profound lyrics, and soulful stories, Nguyen Van Chung’s compositions have contributed to making revolutionary music “softer”, more approachable, and more widespread to young audiences. One of the hit songs that has been performed by many singers and received much attention from the media is “The Story of Peace Continues”.
Recently, during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), Nguyen Van Chung once again showcased his patriotism, conveying boundless inspiration for the revolutionary spirit through new compositions warmly received by audiences. These include Nguyen the vi binh yen (Oath for Peace), performed by singer Nguyen Duyen Quynh, and Noi dau giua hoa binh (Pain amidst peace), performed by singer Hoa Minzy.
The grand celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) inspired artists to release a wave of new musical works. These include Vi nuoc quen minh (For the nation, forget oneself), composed by Chi Vu and performed by singer Nguyen Phi Hung; Mai la nguoi Viet Nam (Forever Vietnamese), composed by Trang Phap and performed by Ha Le and Trang Phap; and Ngan nga Viet Nam (Resonating Vietnam), composed by Dao Duy Quynh and performed by Truong Tran Anh Duy, among others. A common thread running through these works is their meaningful and profound content. Combined with the dedication and meticulous investment of production teams and the use of modern music video techniques, these songs have achieved widespread reach across digital platforms, touching the emotions of audiences.
Hoa Minzy overwhelmed with emotions in Pain amidst peace
After creating a "fever" in the domestic and international music market in March with her “hundred-million-view” MV Bac Bling, singer Hoa Minzy made a powerful comeback with the emotionally charged MV Pain amidst peace. According to YouTube Chart, the MV ranked No. 1 worldwide in the “Top New Music Video Debuts” on August 23, held top positions across multiple categories, and surpassed 12 million views within just 10 days of its release.
What else could explain the success of this MV, if not its quality and meaningful content that has touched the hearts and emotions of millions of Vietnamese? During these sacred days, as the entire nation turns toward the grand celebration with the deepest gratitude and pride, MV titled “Pain amidst peace” stands as a poignant tribute.
Sharing her feelings on social media, Hoa Minzy wrote: “…That mother searching for her son amid the cheers of the Nation/That wife searching for her husband in the crowd… This line moves me deeply every time I hear it,” Hoa Minzy wrote. Just a single verse, yet it captures so many layers of emotion — of mothers who lost their sons, of wives who lost their husbands during the resistance wars.” It is that deep sense of gratitude and national pride expressed in the MV that creates a resonance between the artist and the audience.
Nguyen Thi Thu Nguyet (living in Bien Hoa ward, Dong Nai province) shared: “I couldn’t hold back my tears when watching the MV because of the emotions that the scenes conveyed. They are very simple, ordinary people but truly extraordinary and great”.
Leaving comments across social media platforms, many people have shared their deep feelings about the nation’s story of peace…
Singer Tung Duong – Bringing revolutionary songs to the top of trending charts
When it comes to Tung Duong, a generation of audiences immediately think of songs infused with contemporary folk influences. Yet in recent years, listeners have witnessed his striking “transformations”, presenting a “softer”, and simpler side, especially the rejuvenation in his music. Notably, his performances of revolutionary songs and those celebrating love for the homeland have touched the hearts of many music lovers, especially young audiences.
Some listeners frankly admit that they initially didn’t like Tung Duong's music, they eventually grew to enjoy it, and even become “addicted” to it. This proves the powerful appeal of music that evokes patriotism. A prime example is the song titled Spring in Ho Chi Minh City (by composer Xuan Hong), a familiar classic that Tung Duong performed in the program "The Country is Full of Joy", which reached the top trending.
Recently, he and his team produced the MV The story of peace continues - a song that rose to prominence during the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. Audiences warmly embraced the MV; within just seven days of its release, it had drawn more than 3.6 million views on YouTube. Its success stems from the serious and meticulous investment in production, with visuals resembling a cinematic short film brimming with emotion. On his personal page, Tung Duong shared: “Even now, I am still overcome with emotion when rewatching the MV, and I still shed tears. Only by putting myself in a soldier’s place could I truly feel the indomitable spirit of those who fought, willing to sacrifice their lives for the nation’s survival”.

Feeling truly fortunate and proud
In recent times, many political and artistic programs have been organized and broadcast across media platforms. The Dong Nai Art Theater, in particular, has staged numerous performances to celebrate Party congresses at all levels and the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2). Artist Dieu Tram of the Dong Nai Art Theater shared: Like many fellow artists performing in these political-artistic programs, I feel truly fortunate and proud to stand among the ranks of cultural performers, bringing songs that praise our homeland and nation as it undergoes renewal and development... “When performing songs that honor the Party, the love for our country, and for Dong Nai, I always want to give the audience firm confidence in the leadership of the Party and the State. I also hope to convey to the audience a sense of pride and passionate dedication to the nation’s renewal process” - said artist Dieu Tram.
