The trend of traveling by motorbike is becoming increasingly popular among young people as a means to explore and assert themselves. Along with experiencing freedom and conquering nature, traveling by motorbike also requires high standards of safety and discipline.

The “backpacking” culture is truly sustainable only when young people know how to follow the necessary rules to make each trip a memorable journey, rather than choosing to take risks.
Challenging roads
Dong Nai has long been a popular destination for young people who enjoy traveling by motorbike. Without having to go too far, “backpackers” can easily find routes that meet all the elements: challenging driving skills, pristine natural landscapes and rare moments of peace after the hustle and bustle of city life.
In the "must-go" list of young travelers, Tri An Lake, Nam Cat Tien Forest, Mai Waterfall, Nuoc Soi Pond, Chua Chan Mountain, Ba Chong Rock, and Bu Gia Map Forest consistently rank at the top. In particular, Tri An Lake, especially in the early morning, leaves a lasting impression.
Riding a large-displacement motorcycle, young man Pham Quang Anh (a resident of Tam Hiep ward) shared: “What I like most about 'backpacking' in Dong Nai is that it takes just over an hour of riding to escape the city’s hustle and bustle. The road along Tri An Lake in the early morning is truly stunning, green forest on one side, crystal-clear lake on the other. Riding feels like recharging your energy.”
If Tri An Lake brings relaxation, Chua Chan Mountain in Xuan Loc Commune brings a sense of conquest. Nguyen Thanh Dat (residing in Long Binh Ward) said: "The winding slopes force me to concentrate. But when I pass, looking down, I see the green fields stretching out, it is really exciting. I think "backpacking" is different in that: it is both a challenge for the driver and a way to enjoy the beautiful scenery."
Not only is Dong Nai a destination for those who love large-displacement motorcycles, but it also offers many gentler routes for groups of friends riding scooters or manual bikes. The rubber forests in Trang Bom Commune or Long Thanh Commune are ideal suggestions. During leaf-changing season, the entire forest turns a vibrant yellow, with a thick carpet of fallen leaves covering the ground, transforming the ride into a romantic experience straight out of a movie.
The appeal of "backpacking" trips in Dong Nai lies in the variety of options available. Those with a passion for exploration can take on Nam Cat Tien Forest, one of the largest remaining primeval forests in the South. Those seeking a more laid-back experience can stop by Mai Waterfall or Bau Nuoc Soi Pond to immerse themselves in the cool, refreshing water. Each destination offers young travelers a distinct feeling, ranging from excitement and curiosity to relaxation and tranquility.
From personal experiences, Lu Hoang Thong demonstrates that “backpacking” is not only a game of speed but also a journey to cultivate awareness, discipline, and the ability to face challenges. It is the combination of passion and responsibility that makes his sharing become a “compass” for many young people before each trip.

A group of young people in Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City is embarking on a "backpacking" trip to a campsite in Dong Nai, equipped with full protective gear |
Lu Hoang Thong is a Travel Motor Vlogger (a content creator focused on “traveling” by motorcycle), well-regarded by the community for his unique “solo camping” trips, marked by artistic photography.
Sharing about his experiences on a 2-wheeled vehicle, Thong said: Dong Nai is always on the list of places he often visits.
“The road along Tri An Lake or through Nam Cat Tien Forest is challenging enough, but also very inspiring for creativity. I choose to travel alone to fully enjoy the tranquility. However, to travel safely, especially when traveling solo, preparation must be thorough,” said Thong.
According to Thong, many young people who are new to "traveling" often overlook vehicle maintenance and protective gear, both of which are essential to ensuring their own safety. “Motorbikes must be thoroughly checked, including brakes, tires, and lights. Personal gear such as helmets, gloves, and protective armor is indispensable. In addition, it’s important to carry a first aid kit and have the skills to handle unexpected situations on the road. Freedom only becomes truly meaningful when paired with responsibility and safety,” Thong emphasized.
One key point Thong consistently warns about is the weather. During the rainy season, many red dirt roads in Bu Gia Map Commune or Dinh Quan Commune become slippery, which can easily cause accidents. Therefore, backpackers should prioritize traveling in the dry season or plan their trips carefully.
"Dong Nai is most beautiful on sunny days, when the scenery of lakes, forests and mountains reveals all its charm," Lu Hoang Thong added.
Not only providing technical advice, Lu Hoang Thong also strongly inspires the community of backpackers. He affirmed: “Backpacking is freedom, but that freedom is only sustainable when accompanied by professional preparation. A safe journey can bring a complete experience, helping young people find courage and love for nature.”
