According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, nearly 30 foreign airlines and Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Bamboo Airways had operated flights connecting Vietnam and 22 countries and territories by mid-June.

Flights linking Vietnam and Brunei, Indonesia, Myanmar and Macau have not yet been reopened after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Of the total number of 650,000 foreign passengers to Vietnam in May, 254,200 were transported by Vietnamese airlines, up 58.2 percent against April.

Six Vietnamese airlines are operating on 55-60 domestic air routes.

Between January and May this year, Vietnamese airports served 33.04 million passengers and 608,900 tonnes of goods, up 28.9 percent and 3.4 percent on-year. Among the figures, Vietnamese airlines carried 16.33 million passengers and 122.8 million goods, up 26.6 percent and 1.6 percent on-year.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam forecasted Vietnamese airports would serve 70-80 million passengers this year, including 10 million foreign arrivals, compared to 116.5 million in 2019.
