According to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT)'s Deputy Director General Ha Van Sieu, VNAT has put forward many policies and solutions to support businesses and employees in the tourism sector to help them overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The supportive measures include reducing the fees of appraisal for licensing travel businesses and for issuing accreditation cards to tour guides by 50% from January 1, 2021, cutting electricity prices for tourist accommodation establishments, and providing one-off assistance to licensed tour guides who have had to stop working due to the pandemic.

VNAT has also coordinated with relevant agencies to develop pilot plans and procedures to welcome international visitors to Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province, foster night-time economy, beef up the tourism promotion campaign, and strengthen international cooperation and digital transformation in tourism.

In the coming time, Vietnam's tourism industry will implement an action programme for tourism development in the 2021-2025 period, which sets out the specific goals and tasks to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector of the country, deploy post COVID-19 recovery plans and initiatives, and formulate policies on improving human resource training in tourism.
