Hon Mau is one of the 21 islands in the Nam Du Archipelago, about 90km from the mainland. The 200-hectare island is populated by 120 families. Most of them live on fishing.
Visitors who come here are met by the warmth and geniality of the fishermen.
More often than not, you will find yourselves wandering along the narrow streets around the centre where the fishermen’s houses are.
The island is dubbed "raw pearl" because of its pristine landscape that has almost not been touched by tourism.
The visitors can watch fishing boats return to shore with all kinds of seafood in the early monring.
Visitors can take a bus from HCM City to Kien Giang Province’s Rach Gia City for VND250,000 (US$11) for six hours or an airplane to Rach Gia Air Port.
From Rach Gia City, visitors can take a boat to the Nam Du Archipelago. It will take about three to four hours from the mainland to Nam Du.
