To reach the place, from Hanoi they are advised to take a bus to Van Don Crossroads in Bai Chay Ward (Quang Ninh Province), and then take a taxi or local bus to reach Cai Rong Port.
At the port, they can choose either a high-speed boat or small wooden boat to reach the pristine Co To Island. High-speed boats leave at 1pm on weekdays and tickets cost VNĐ180,000 to VNĐ200,000 (US$4.4-8.8) per passenger. Wooden boats cost VNĐ110,000 per passenger for a round trip, but are not available on Sundays.
Dawn and sunset are the ideal times for visitors to admire the charm of the island and for photographers to get the best shots.
Visitors should get up early to take a relaxing walk on the beaches and witness the bustling scene of fishing boats returning from the sea.
According to local authorities, last year the island received 320,000 visitors, including 2,200 foreigners.
