Visiting such places, tourists have chance to taste fresh fruit of various kinds and go fishing.

Long Khanh town in Dong Nai province is considered the land of fruit of the Southeastern region. It is home to various famous fruit such as guava, mangosteen, durian and cemdepak. In summer, gardens full of rambutan are most-visited. Those gardens’ owners offer tourists free photo-taking and free fruit-tasting.

Long Khanh town is nearly 100km from Ho chi Minh City. Tourists should visit gardens in Binh Loc, Xuan Tan, Xuan Lap communes for a day or more.

A familiar tour to the Western region is to visit the Phung Islet tourist area in Chau Thanh district, Ben Tre province. In summer, scores of visitors flock to this place to enjoy ripe mango, rambutan and rose-apple.

From My Tho wharf, tourists can be aboard a boat at a price of VND 50,000 per ticket to reach Phung Islet to start exploring the ecosystem there. Tourists should bring along fresh water and snacks.

Another tourist destination is Vinh Kim commune, Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province, which is famous for the specialty named Lo Ren star apple with sweet taste. Some gardens in the commune are open to tourists. To savor local dishes, tourists should contact the gardens’ owners.

The harvest time of Binh Hoa Phuoc rambutan on An Binh Island which lies in the Tien River, Long Ho district, Vinh Long province is from early June to mid-July. In the island, other alluring gardens offer mango and jack-fruit. Tourists could hire clothing often worn by Southern people to go fishing and catching snails with locals.

Covering 12 hectares and having more than 20 kinds of fruit trees, My Khanh Tourist Village in Can Tho city is appealing with different kinds of tasty dishes, “don ca tai tu” (amateur singing) and other services.

To learn more about local fruits and explore local people’s life, tourists are advised to experience Cai Rang floating market.
