Actually, the city of Binh Dinh Province can offer visitors more than just beaches, seafood and tourist attractions. I had a chance to discover the hidden charms of Quy Nhon during my trip to the city on the Lunar New Year holiday, Tet.
From HCMC, tourists can travel by plane, train or coach to get to Quy Nhon. Budget airlines have daily services between the two cities, but, for me, train travel is the best option for leisure travelers as they can view many beautiful and peaceful sites during the trip lasting 10 to 11 hours, and learn about the daily chores of local residents along the way. Train cars are also spacious, so travelers can relax and sleep well during the long journey.

Upon arrival in Quy Nhon, tourists will find it enjoyable to stroll along tree-lined streets and on quiet beaches with just a few locals around. There are many historical sites in and outside the city for tourists to explore.
Binh Dinh is home to a number of Vietnam’s heroes. Tay Son, a district around 30 kilometers north of Quy Nhon, is where a museum featuring Nguyen Hue, also known as King Quang Trung, is situated. The preeminence of King Quang Trung was evidenced in the victory in a battle against northern invaders.
The site of Tran Hung Dao statue, another great general of Vietnam in the past, is recommended for those interested in looking into how the Vietnamese fought against foreign invasions in the past. His statue was built on one of the small islands near Quy Nhon.

Quy Nhon has many beautiful beaches, including Hoang Hau (Queen Beach) that could take visitors’ breath away if they admire it from Ganh Rang Hill. The beach attracts a large number of locals and tourists in summer, as the sea is calm and warm.
The sea of Quy Nhon is calm in summer, so there are boat trips to many small islands such as Nhon Ly, which is described as a sand desert of Vietnam. Canoe services are also available for tourists to reach the islands or they can join slow but interesting trips on board local fishermen’s boats to get there at lower charges.

Located on the central coast of Vietnam, Quy Nhon offers many seafood specialties with affordable prices. However, you are advised to ask for prices before ordering seafood as prices vary in different seasons.
