Hoa Lo Prison

 

 

The prison, located on Hoa Lo street in the Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi, spans an area of 12,000 square metres.

It was constructed by French colonists in 1896 for political prisoners.

The French called the prison – Maison Centrale (Central House) – a traditional euphemism to denote prisons in France.

The structure was intended to imprison political dissidents, particularly revolutionaries fighting for the nation’s liberation.

Tan Trao Special National Historical site

 

 

The Tan Trao site is located in Son Duong district, 41km from Tuyen Quang City.

It covers a total of 3,100 hectares and houses 177 artefacts.

Many significant historical events that directly led to the success of the August Revolution of 1945 occurred at the site. 

Pac Bo historical site

 

 

The historical area is located in Truong Ha commune, Ha Quang district, roughly 55km from Cao Bang City.

The main historical artefacts in the area consist of Pac Bo Cave, Coc Bo Cave, Lenin Stream, Karl Marx Mountain, Ho Chi Minh Museum and Khuoi Nam.

The famous Coc Bo Cave is where President Ho Chi Minh established his residence and worked on Vietnam's revolutionary course after returning from 30 years abroad.

Dien Bien Phu historical site

 

 

Located in the centre of Dien Bien City, the Dien Bien Phu historical site comprises the Muong Thanh bridge, Him Lam hill, A1 hill, soldiers’ national cemeteries on A1, D1 and C1 hills, and Dien Bien Phu museum.

There, General Vo Nguyen Giap and other generals made decisive decisions leading to the success of each battle with the pinnacle of the general offensive on the whole front, resulting in the resounding historic victory on May 7, 1954.

Son La Prison 

 

 

The prison was erected by French colonists in 1908 with initial area of 500 square metres. In 1930, it was expanded to 1,500 square metres and then 1,700 square metres in 1940.

The Son La prison is located in the centre of Son La city, on the top of Khau Ca hill from which one can view the entire town. 

The prison was regarded as a school providing the Vietnamese Revolution with excellent communists like Truong Chinh, Le Duan, Nguyen Luong Bang, Van Tien Dung, Xuan Thuy and Tran Huy Lieu.

It is a famous historic artefact that has attracted large numbers of domestic and foreign tourists.
