Cu Lao Cau or Cau Islet which is 110km away from Phan Thiet City is attractive to tourists thanks to its primitive landscape of sun, sand and wind.

This is an islet commune of Tuy Phong District off the central province of Binh Thuan. Due to its remote location far away from the mainland, tourists have to rent a boat in Lien Huong Town of Phuoc The Commune and ask for permission from coastguards to enter the islet. Tourists will be charged from VND200,000 each for boat rents.

There are some interesting sightseeing spots at the location, including Yen (swallow) and Tinh Yeu (love) caves and coral reefs. Some must-taste dishes on the islet are dia sam (marine worm) and shrimp porridge or mussel porridge and braised com (small silvery, herring-like fish) fish in a clay pot.

Travelers to the islet from January to June will be able to enjoy various kinds of seafood as the sea is in its peaceful time so fishermen can go fishing. The rest of the year is rough sea time so travelers should prepare tents and food during their trips to the islet.

During the fourth lunar month, local people will celebrate Nghinh Ong Festival (whale worshipping) to pray for good catch and a prosperous year.
