Cu Lao Cham (Cham Island) off the World Heritage-listed town of Hoi An in Quang Nam Province is an ideal hideaway for travelers thanks to its wonderful sandy beaches, green hills, and clean, blue sea. The place is great for camping, swimming, and scuba diving for seeing coral reefs and beautiful marine life.
About 15 kilometers from Cua Dai Beach, the island has eight smaller islets, namely La, Dai, Lao, Mo, Kho Me, Kho Con, Ong and Tai, with a total area of around 40,000 hectares. The UNESCO’s International Coordination Council of Man and the Biosphere Program has recognized Cham Island as a global biosphere reserve.
From Hoi An, it takes travelers about 20 minutes by boat to get to the island. Visitors may need a day to explore antiques and landscapes there and if they have more time, they should stay at a local family to learn more about local culture and daily life on this stunning island.
