Con Dao Island, about 97 nautical miles from Vung Tau City, is considered a beautiful pearl of Vietnam’s sea tourism and is endowed with smooth beaches shaded by evergreen trees, fresh air, clear blue water, primitive forests and abundant wildlife as well as its historical relics.
Con Dao has about 16 islands in varied sizes and 20 beautiful sandy beaches, plus mountains and primitive forests that create a poetic landscape under the shade of malabar almond lines. Empty streets, giant trees and mossy house lines make people think about peaceful places of ancient towns. It’s hard for them to think that the place used to be a horrible wartime prison.
The tranquility and peace of the surroundings inspire people to live at ease. On the island, tourists can soak in the cool water, and go around to take snapshots. Moreover, travelers can hire a fishing boat to go fishing or cruise to Bay Canh Islet to make a furtive glance at turtles laying eggs into the sand.
