The city was ranked eighth on the newly released worldwide list of destinations on the rise. TripAdvisor’s Top 10 Destinations on the Rise include Havana, Cuba; La Fortuna de San Carlos, Costa Rica; Kathmandu, Nepal; Jerusalem, Israel; Cusco, Peru; Ambergris Caye, Belize; Sapporo, Japan; Hanoi, Vietnam; Corralejo, Spain and Fortaleza, Brazil.
The list includes the destinations that have received the greatest increase in positive reviews and interest in the last year from the millions of TripAdvisor travellers around the world.
Hanoi has also been named as one of the top ten attractive destinations in Asia by the readers of Hong Kong-based Smart Travel Asia magazine, reflecting the efforts of municipal authorities and the tourism sector to create a civilised, safe, and friendly tourism environment to attract foreign visitors.
The number of foreigners visiting Hanoi continues to increase despite the slower rise in foreign tourists to other destinations in the country, due in large part to the economic crisis.
