Two landscapes in Sa Pa district of the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai have been recognised as Vietnam records by the Vietnam Records Organisation (Vietkings).
Accordingly, O Quy Ho mountain pass has been recognised as the longest pass in Vietnam and a 121-step terraced field in Vu Lung Sung village, Trung Chai commune has been named the one with the most steps.
O Quy Ho pass, located on National Highway 4D, cuts cross the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range and connects Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces. It has a length of 50 km.
In the middle of 2012, the international tourism information website Globalgrasshopper chose the pass to be in the top ten of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Vietnam .
Meanwhile, the terraced field in Vu Lung Sung is considered one of the most beautiful and oldest terraced fields in Sa Pa (over 100 years old).
Previously, Lao Cai province proposed Vietkings recognising its three landscapes, including a complex of terraced fields in Muong Hoa valley, covering a total area of over 935ha in the three communes of Lao Chai, Ta Van and Hau Thao.
Vietkings will present the Vietnam record certification to the two landscapes on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Sa Pa tourism on November 2.
Sa Pa lured nearly 500,000 tourists in the first nine months of this year.
