On May 27, Nha Bich commune simultaneously launched 12 key infrastructure projects in response to the special 500-day-and-night emulation campaign themed “Unity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough, building Dong Nai into a civilized and modern city,” with continued efforts to improve implementation quality through 2030.

Among them, the Community Center and Sports-Recreation Complex Project in Hamlet 1 is being developed on the site of the former Nha Bich Primary School, covering approximately 3,000 square meters with total investment capital of VND4 billion. The project received unanimous support from local residents during the community consultation process.

Thach Binh, a respected community representative in Hamlet 1, said residents were delighted that the abandoned former school site had been converted into a community space with sports and recreational facilities.

“Everyone is looking forward to the project being completed and put into operation so that local people can have both a venue for community activities and a place for leisure and recreation,” he said.

According to Nguyen Hong Thai, Deputy Party Secretary and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nha Bich commune, following the introduction of the two-tier local government model, the commune reviewed local land resources and found the site had been left unused, resulting in waste and potential security concerns. The commune People’s Committee subsequently proposed that Standing members of the Commune Party Committee approve converting the site into a community facility serving local residents.

“The project is more than a traditional community hall. It will include facilities for volleyball, table tennis and badminton. Once completed, it will serve not only as a venue for meetings and gatherings but also support cultural, sports and recreational activities for local residents, particularly children,” Nguyen Hong Thai said.

He added that the project is scheduled for completion by the end of this year. To ensure construction quality, the commune has established community monitoring teams to oversee compliance with technical standards and construction regulations throughout the implementation process.

Alongside the Community Center and Sports-Recreation Complex Project in Hamlet 1, the locality on May 27 also simultaneously launched 11 other key infrastructure projects, including four transport projects, one market construction project, three technical infrastructure upgrading projects, two cultural center renovation projects and one public lighting system project.

All above-mentioned projects have completed approval procedures, contractor selection, and are now eligible for official construction. Notably, for transport-related projects, dozens of local households voluntarily donated nearly 60 hectares of land to facilitate site clearance and project implementation. The move highlights local residents’ strong sense of solidarity and shared responsibility toward the commune’s development.
