A delegation from the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City, led by Consul General Melissa Brown, visited and held an exchange with students at Lac Hong University and Lac Hong Bilingual Primary–Secondary–High School in Dong Nai Province’s Tran Bien Ward on April 6.

Prior to the exchange session, the School Council and Board of Directors of Lac Hong University and Lac Hong Bilingual Primary-Secondary-High School received and discussed with the U.S. Consul General. Highlighting nearly 30 years of development, Lac Hong University emphasized its achievements in education, scientific research, and participation in national and international technology competitions. A representative of Lac Hong University noted that the university has established partnerships with several U.S. institutions and companies, notably becoming a partner of Arizona State University (the U.S.) and many U.S. enterprises in Vietnam in areas such as semiconductor and chip manufacturing. The U.S. partners have also supported the university in training and upskilling lecturers across various fields, particularly those involved in emerging technologies.

The university is also rapidly approaching training in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI). Currently, some of the university's training programs have been accredited by the U.S.-based Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Speaking at the event, Consul General Melissa Brown expressed her affection for the country, people, history, and culture of Vietnam, and highly appreciated the university's continuous efforts to improve training quality according to international standards and build a dynamic learning environment. She noted that these efforts not only serve the students of the university but also make an important contribution to training high-quality human resources for Dong Nai province as well as the entire country.
Melissa Brown emphasized: The visit of the U.S. Consulate General delegation to Lac Hong University holds special significance as Vietnam and the U.S. are approaching the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Putting the past aside, Vietnam and the U.S. have now become Comprehensive Strategic Partners, with two-way trade turnover reaching nearly 210 billion USD in 2025.

In the context of globalized economy, she stressed that international cooperation in education is a key driver of development. The U.S. side particularly values notable collaborative programs such as the close partnership between Lac Hong University and Arizona State University, which equips students with critical thinking, teamwork skills, and the ability to master advanced technologies like AI, biotechnology, and semiconductors. The Consul General reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to serving as a partner, collaborator, and companion to the university in fostering the development of future generations.
