Rolling out list of marriage and family customs

Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Ut has just signed and issued Decision No. 41/QD-UBND dated January 8, 2026, on the implementation of Resolution No. 48/2025/NQ-HDND dated December 10, 2025, of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Council, which approves the list of marriage and family customs applicable in Dong Nai province.

The chairman assigned the Department of Justice to take the lead and coordinate with relevant agencies, units, and localities in implementing, providing guidance on, and monitoring the enforcement of Resolution No. 48. The decision takes effect as of the date of signing. The Chief of the Office of the Provincial People’s Committee, the Director of the Department of Justice, the Director of the Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, heads of relevant agencies and units, and chairpersons of the People’s Committees of communes and wards are responsible for implementing this decision.

The list of marriage customs of ethnic groups applicable in Dong Nai province includes wedding and engagement ceremonies, post-wedding customs, and the tradition of wearing traditional attire during these ceremonies. Family-related customs include valuing sustainable marriage, the use of red cloth on the wedding day, the practice of naming children in connection with culture and community, material support from the clan for organizing wedding ceremonies, ancestor death anniversary ceremonies (clan-based commemorations), and longevity celebrations for grandparents and elderly clan members.
