From 00:00 to 09:00 on January 1, 2026, Dong Nai -2 Hospital welcomed 19 newborns delivered by both cesarean section and natural birth. At 00:09, joy erupted among the on-duty medical team as they received the news of a twin birth. The mother had naturally conceived twin boys, one weighing 2.6kg and the other 2.8kg. Following a cesarean delivery, both the mother and the two babies were reported to be in good health.

Meanwhile, Shing Mark Medical University Hospital welcomed 3 newborn babies and had 3 other pregnant women waiting to give birth.

Tran Minh Tai, Specialist Level I Doctor, Deputy Head of the Obstetrics Department, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital, said: On this first day of the new year, doctors will welcome 10 cesarean deliveries. All deliveries are carefully prepared in terms of human resources, equipment, and professional plans to ensure maximum safety for both mother and baby. Directly welcoming babies born at the exact moment of the new year is a very special joy and happiness for the medical staff.

“The cries welcoming life of babies on the first day of the year not only bring happiness to families but also add motivation and spirit to us in our work. Each mother who successfully ‘overcomes childbirth’ is a motivation for the medical staff in the new year,” Tai shared.

Immediately after birth, the first “child citizens” at many hospitals were placed on their mothers’ chests by medical staff using the “skin-to-skin” method. This practice not only helps stabilize the newborn’s body temperature, heart rate, and breathing, but also fosters a strong bond between mother and child from the very first moments of life.

The cries that welcomed new life at the turn of the year not only brought joy to each family but also signaled a hopeful beginning, heralding a peaceful new year filled with happiness and good things.
