When trade unions serve as a sustainable bridge

During the period 2023-2025, many grassroots trade unions in enterprises in Dong Nai province not only served as shining examples in building strong organizations but also played a solid "bridge" role, contributing to harmonizing interests and building a fair, humane, and efficient working environment.

As a result, harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations play a crucial role in determining the sustainable development of businesses.

Balancing interests

At GPPD Energy Co., Ltd. (Becamex Binh Phuoc Industrial Park, Chon Thanh Ward), one can easily observe the close and friendly relationship between the business owner and the employees. During mid-shift meals, company leaders share a warm meal with employees, inquire about their work and employment conditions, and engage in conversations about various aspects of life. This open and sincere exchange reflects the company’s appreciation of its human resources as a foundation for its development. At the same time, employees are upbeat and confident in the company’s sustainable development strategies.

Currently, GPPD Energy Co., Ltd. has nearly 400 employees, and a rise in orders during the fourth quarter has created stable jobs for workers.

Worker Mai Anh Tuyet shared that what she values most about working at the company is its professional, safe, and friendly production environment. “We feel secure not only because of stable income and employment, but also thanks to the care and attention from the company and the Trade Union, shown through their inquiries and willingness to listen to our concerns and suggestions. Moreover, Trade Union officials are always by our side during times of hardship or illness, fostering a sense of closeness that makes us see our workplace as a second family,” Tuyet said.

Zhao Jian Chao, General Director of GPPD Energy Co., Ltd., stated: “Over the past five years of operations in Dong Nai, the company has gone through phases of development and consolidation. This achievement is largely attributed to the dedication and unity of the entire workforce. In recent times, the company has invested in modern production equipment, and the skills of employees have improved, contributing to better product quality and efficiency. In particular, the company highly values the role of the grassroots Trade Union in strengthening the bond between the company and employees, fostering mutual understanding, and establishing stable labor relations.”

At Advanced International Multitech (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., Nhon Trach 3 Industrial Park, Nhon Trach Commune, the grassroots trade union has played a crucial role in stabilizing production and fostering strong bonds between the workforce and the employer. Despite the language barrier in a non-state-owned enterprise, labor relations at the company remain stable and serve as a shining example of a cohesive work environment. This endeavor is demonstrated through dialogue and listening between the company, the trade union, and the workers. The company provides financial support and facilitates the effective operation of the grassroots trade union, encouraging employees to participate in foreign language courses to improve their skills and meet job requirements.

Do Thi Thuy Kieu, Chairwoman of the Trade Union at Advanced International Multitech (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., stated: "The Trade Union always listens to understand the issues that employees are concerned about and the suggestions they make through suggestion boxes and dialogue sessions. Afterwards, we select the most relevant suggestions to present to the company's Board of Directors for their consideration and improvement. The Executive Committee of the Trade Union also consistently promotes and encourages employees to comply with company regulations and achieve high work quotas and productivity targets."

Building trust with employees

According to a report by the Dong Nai Confederation of Labour, the province currently has nearly 2,300 grassroots trade unions with over 784,000 members. Many grassroots trade unions in enterprises, especially those with a large workforce, operate effectively, building strong trust with both employers and employees. Through practical models and actions closely related to workers' lives, trade unions are playing an increasingly important role in stabilizing production and collaborating with businesses to support all aspects of workers' lives.

Furthermore, the grassroots trade union proactively coordinates with professional departments and business owners to implement democratic regulations and organise workplace dialogues. It represents employees in negotiating and signing collective labour agreements and labour regulations. It urges businesses to pay social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance, as well as ensuring occupational safety and hygiene. The trade union also resolves labour relations issues and collaborates with businesses to retain workers through long-term welfare policies.

The results show that trade unions serve as a strong and enduring bridge between businesses and employees. In units with well-established trade union organizations, labor relations tend to be stable, and productivity as well as business performance are noticeably improved. Trade unions serve as a two-way communication channel, enabling business leaders to quickly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of employees, thereby allowing for appropriate adjustments in human resource management policies and reducing the risk of conflict in labor relations.

The role of the grassroots trade union is also reflected in its support for businesses in stabilizing production, recruiting labor, and improving investment, technology, and equipment for production and business operations. Additionally, it plays a role in motivating and encouraging employees to be self-disciplined and responsible in their work. This undertaking contributes to fostering a united work environment, generating motivation for employees to increase productivity, participate in employee engagement initiatives, and help businesses fulfill their annual production targets.

At the Conference of Trade Union Branches in various regions of the province, organized by the Dong Nai Confederation of Labour in November 2025, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Confederation of Labour Nguyen Duc Thang highly appreciated the role and efforts of trade union officials, especially as the province implemented a two-tiered local government system and the trade union's operational model shifted to a two-tiered system. During that time, trade union branches played a crucial role in stabilizing workers' morale, encouraging their active participation in emulation movements, and supporting businesses in achieving production goals.

To ensure social security for workers and retain human resources for business development, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Confederation of Labour Nguyen Duc Thang called on grassroots trade unions to focus on the livelihoods and employment of workers, primarily through the negotiation of welfare policies, wages, and year-end bonuses to help workers feel secure and committed. Grassroots trade unions should continually innovate the content and methods of their activities and enhance the capacity of trade union officials to provide reliable support for workers. This target is the shared goal that the trade union organization is striving toward in the current period.
