On the afternoon of December 15, Nguyen Kim Long, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Smuggling, Counterfeit Goods and Trade Fraud (Steering Committee 389/DP) chaired a meeting to review 2025 activities in combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods, and to implement the directions and tasks for 2026.

At the meeting, leadership from the Dong Nai Market Management Bureau (under the Department of Industry and Trade) presented a draft report on the province’s 2025 efforts to combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. According to the report, in the first eleven months of this year, relevant provincial authorities conducted inspections of more than 4,300 cases, resulting in the detection of approximately 3,800 violations. Total revenue collected for the state budget, including administrative fines, supplementary penalties, and tax recoveries, exceeded VND 1.1 trillion.

In his concluding remarks, Nguyen Kim Long, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, and Head of Provincial Steering Committee 389/DP, emphasized the need for stronger coordination among committee members in inspecting, detecting, and handling violations related to counterfeit goods, smuggling, and trade fraud. He called for particular focus on inspections in e-commerce, chemicals, food products, and cosmetics. Enforcement should also be intensified against illegal firecrackers and contraband tobacco, especially in border areas. Relevant agencies were urged to strengthen information dissemination and public awareness campaigns on anti-smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods throughout the province.

Provincial leaders requested that the Department of Industry and Trade compile and consolidate feedback from relevant departments and agencies to finalize the 2025 report on efforts to combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. This report will also outline directions and tasks for 2026, particularly during the upcoming Lunar New Year peak period. The department was also tasked with guiding, supporting, and overseeing localities in effectively establishing Steering Committee 389/DP at the commune and ward levels, ensuring both regulatory compliance and practical implementation.
