Students – defenders of a safe and civilized Vietnamese cyberspace

That was the theme of a seminar held on the afternoon of November 28, organized in both in-person and online formats under the direction of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Students' Association, with the Dong Nai Provincial Student Association as the lead unit, in coordination with the Vietnamese Students’ Associations in Thailand and the Netherlands.

Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Students’ Association Nguyen Duc Nguyen affirmed that recognizing the role of students in national tasks related to science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation, the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Students’ Association has in recent years implemented various initiatives to enable students to maximize their intellectual potential and contribute to the successful implementation of national digital transformation programs and the country’s science and technology advancement. These efforts include a series of 11 seminars on science and technology, among them a student scientific seminar on cybersecurity held in Dong Nai. This undertaking is an essential activity for students, encouraging them to pursue scientific research and innovation.

The Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Students’ Association called on student associations in provinces, cities, universities, and overseas chapters to actively promote and amplify activities related to science, technology, innovation, and the national digital transformation. He also emphasized the importance of joining hands to build a network of talented technology students, aimed at fostering connections and creating favorable conditions for students to contribute and develop.

The Central Committee of the Vietnamese Students’ Association affirmed its commitment to continuing its role as a facilitator, connector, and companion, providing the best possible conditions for Vietnamese students to fulfill their mission of mastering science and technology.

In his opening remarks at the seminar, Le Phan Quang Huy, a Master's degree holder and lecturer at Dong Nai Technology University, stated: "Despite its benefits, cyberspace also contains numerous risks, requiring the development of a digitally savvy citizen force equipped with knowledge, skills, and resilience." Among them, students are the pioneering group directly engaged in safeguarding a safe, healthy, and humane cyberspace.

Based on the orientation of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Students’ Association, the Dong Nai Provincial Student Association organized a cybersecurity seminar aimed at equipping students with knowledge and enhancing their capacity to ensure security in cyberspace. Through this initiative, a network of talented technology students is being built, contributing to the protection of a safe and civilized Vietnamese cyberspace.

At the seminar, delegates heard a range of presentations from lecturers, researchers, experts, and students on the topic of cybersecurity. In addition to clarifying the current situation, participants focused on defining the role and responsibilities of students in ensuring cybersecurity and proposed solutions to enhance students’ knowledge and skills, while promoting their participation in safeguarding cyberspace.
