Dong Nai launches program to donate health insurance cards to disadvantaged residents

On October 31, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Social Security, Lang Quang Vinh, signed and issued a plan launching the program “Donating health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances, bringing a warm Tet to the poor in the Spring 2026, the Year of the Horse (Binh Ngo)”.

The program aims to spread the spirit of “mutual support and compassion” and “the good leaves protect the torn ones”, while responding to the national emulation movement “The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind”. Through this initiative, people in difficult circumstances will have the opportunity to access quality healthcare services, receive medical care during illness, ease their financial burdens, and ensure social security. At the same time, the program contributes toward the goal of achieving universal health insurance coverage.

Dong Nai Province currently has a population of nearly 4.5 million residents. As of the end of September 2025, about 3.8 million people were covered by health insurance, accounting for 90.3% of the population. To meet the target by the end of 2025, the province needs to enroll an additional 430,000 people.

In practice, health insurance has brought significant benefits to citizens, particularly during times of illness. According to Dong Nai Social Security, the agency has signed contracts with 145 medical facilities across the province for health insurance-covered treatment. Over the past nine months, there have been more than 7.72 million visits for health insurance-covered medical care, with total payments exceeding 3.7 trillion VND from the health insurance fund.
