For many years, the Public Passenger Transport Management and Operation Center (PPTMOC) under the Dong Nai Department of Construction has been promoting digital transformation and applying information technology in bus management and operation. These efforts have yielded positive results, improving service quality and making public transport more convenient for residents in the locality.

Applying technology to serve passengers

The PPTMOC has actively implemented information technology solutions to enhance management efficiency and operational control of the bus system, while also enabling passengers to access information and plan their trips more proactively and efficiently.

According to reporters from Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio–Television, many bus stops across the province, including those in front of Dong Nai General Hospital, Dong Nai Bus Station, and Bien Hung Park, have been equipped with electronic LED information boards. These boards display route details and estimated bus arrival times, helping passengers reduce waiting times and feel more confident when using public transport.

Nguyen Thi Hien, a resident of Tam Hiep Ward, shared: “For over 5 years, I’ve always used the bus to go for medical appointments, shopping, or visiting friends and relatives. Thanks to the electronic information boards at bus stops, I can easily check when the next bus will arrive and don’t have to wait as long as before. Taking the bus is now much more convenient and safe”.

In recent times, many passengers, especially young people and students, have been using the Buyt Dong Nai mobile app to register and plan their trips more conveniently. Lam Bao Ngoc, a fourth-year student at Lac Hong University in Tran Bien Ward, shared: “I often take the bus to school or go out with friends. Since installing the Buyt Dong Nai app, I know exactly which route to take and when the bus will arrive, so I don’t have to wait long. Taking the bus is both safe and cost-effective.”

Multiple information channels for easy access

Deputy Director of the PPTMOC, Phan Hong Quang, stated that in implementing information technology in the management and operation of public passenger transport, the center has recently deployed and utilized specialized software for the Information, Management, and Operation System of the provincial bus network. Through this system, bus passengers can access multiple information channels about public transport activities, including precise route details and departure–arrival times for each line, allowing them to plan their trips conveniently. At the same time, the system enables passengers to promptly send feedback and reports related to bus operations and management to the relevant authorities.

Specifically, when using the Buyt Dong Nai mobile app, passengers can access up-to-date information on bus operations provided by the management agency. The app allows users to view route maps, itineraries, and ticket prices for all bus lines, search for directions to their destinations, locate nearby bus stops and shelters, and send feedback or questions regarding service quality directly to the relevant authorities.

Through the website https://dongnai.ttgt.vn, residents can read articles related to bus transport activities across the province, access detailed information about routes, itineraries, and fares, and submit feedback or inquiries for official response. Meanwhile, the Bus Dong Nai Facebook fanpage provides regular updates and articles about local bus operations, while also serving as a channel for passengers to share their comments, report service issues, or seek clarification from the authorities.

“The center has also introduced a chatbox feature on Facebook Messenger, allowing passengers to obtain information about the bus routes they need easily. At the same time, through the management software system, the center can quickly receive public feedback, enabling timely adjustments to improve service quality and enhance the efficiency of public passenger transport management,” said Phan Hong Quang.

In the coming period, Dong Nai Province will continue to improve the effectiveness of its Information, Management, and Operation System for public passenger transport by bus. At the same time, the province will intensify its communication efforts and provide guidance to encourage wider adoption of the Buyt Dong Nai mobile application among residents. Dong Nai is also placing strong emphasis on enhancing the quality of bus services and advancing its green transition roadmap through the introduction of electric buses that are convenient, high-quality, and safe. These efforts aim to help reduce traffic congestion and accidents, while protecting the environment and contributing to a more attractive urban landscape.

Additionally, the center has installed 10 electronic LED information boards at 10 bus shelters throughout the former Bien Hoa City area. These locations include: the Department of Finance, Bien Hoa Market Park, the Provincial Children’s House, Guest House 71, Bien Hung Park, Ngo Quyen High School, Tran Hung Dao Secondary School, Co.opmart Bien Hoa, Dong Nai General Hospital, and Dong Nai Bus Station. The installation of these LED boards aims to provide up-to-date information about the province’s public bus transport system, making it easier and more convenient for residents to plan their journeys and use public transportation.

According to Phan Hong Quang, nearly 30,000 users have downloaded the Buyt Dong Nai mobile application to date. Through this app, in conjunction with the website https://dongnai.ttgt.vn and the Bus Dong Nai Facebook fan page, the center provides information on bus passenger transport activities across the province, encouraging the public to make greater use of bus services.
