On October 7, at the People’s Committee of Bau Ham commune, the Dong Nai Provincial Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims, together with the Disability Research and Capacity Development Center (DRD), organized a ceremony to present livelihood support funds and scholarships to people with disabilities and Agent Orange victims in three communes: Bau Ham, Binh Minh, and Hung Thinh.

This activity is part of the project “Supporting Improved Quality of Life for People with Disabilities in Provinces Affected by Agent Orange”, which includes Dong Nai. During the program, the organizers presented scholarships to three pupils with disabilities and Agent Orange victims, each worth 5 million VND. Livelihood support funds were given to 13 people with disabilities and Agent Orange victims, ranging from 8 to 23 million VND per person, given as non-refundable grants to be used for income-generating purposes.

Nguyen Van Cong, a person with disabilities from Binh Minh commune, shared: “Through this program, I received 14 million VND. I am using this money to buy more goods for my small convenience store at home. I am very happy and grateful for this assistance, as it is a significant amount for someone like me with disabilities in both legs.”

On this occasion, Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims Nguyen Thi Thuan expressed her gratitude to DRD and hoped the organization would continue participating in programs that support livelihood generation and education for people with disabilities and Agent Orange victims across the province. Beneficiaries receiving livelihood support funds are expected to use the money for its intended purpose, generating income for themselves and their families. Meanwhile, children who receive scholarships are encouraged to overcome challenges and strive for improved academic achievement in the future.
