National solidarity and compatriot spirit always shine

In response to the severe damage caused by recent storms and floods, the Party and State have maintained consistent and determined leadership and governance. This effort, involving the entire political system, active participation from ministries, sectors, and agencies, and especially the solidarity and support of people across the country, has contributed to mitigating disaster losses and helping residents in affected provinces and cities overcome hardships and stabilize their lives.

However, while the entire country is joining forces to support compatriots in disaster-hit areas, on social networks, hostile forces and political opportunists are exploiting the situation to stir up another kind of “storm”, one aimed at distorting information, undermining the great national unity bloc, and eroding public trust in the Party and the State, especially ahead of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Another ploy to exploit natural disasters for distortion

Over the past two and a half months, Vietnam has had to respond to a series of storms, particularly Storms No. 10 and No. 11, which triggered historic flooding, caused severe damage to lives and property, and impacted economic growth and people’s livelihoods. Taking advantage of the situation, hostile forces and political opportunists have revived their old tactics, spreading toxic information in an attempt to sow confusion and erode public trust, much like what was seen during the COVID-19 pandemic and super typhoon Yagi.

Focusing on the losses and suffering caused by storms and floods, distorted arguments claim that people in disaster-hit areas are being neglected and unsupported. Yet in recent days, the people across the country have delivered a robust response: the list of organizations and individuals supporting those affected by natural disasters continues to grow; trucks carrying goods and essential supplies keep pushing through difficulties to bring compassion from all corners of the nation to flood-hit regions; and words of encouragement, care, and solidarity continue to fill social networks. Without trust, without unity, without the spirit of compatriotism, such noble acts would not be possible. And in times of hardship, that spirit of compatriotism is further kindled, and trust in the Party and the State becomes even more unwavering as no force can divide or destroy it.

Under the leadership of the Party, and with the concerted efforts of the entire political system, including the involvement of ministries, sectors, agencies, forces, localities, and the people, we have done our utmost to respond in a timely and effective manner, contributing to the reduction of damage caused by natural disasters. The Government and the Prime Minister have issued directives and directly instructed ministries, sectors, and localities to mobilize all available resources and implement measures to prevent, combat, and swiftly overcome the consequences of natural disasters; to promptly restore work, production, education activities, and stabilize people's lives.

In particular, resources have been swiftly deployed to support localities in overcoming the aftermath of flooding. This undertaking includes Decision No. 2171/QD-TTg dated October 2, 2025, issued by the Prime Minister, which allocates funds from the 2025 central budget reserve to assist several localities in addressing the impacts of storm No. 10 and other natural disasters since the beginning of the year. Specifically, VND 2,524 billion from the 2025 central budget reserve will be disbursed to 15 localities to support livelihoods, repair dikes, irrigation reservoirs, disaster prevention facilities, and essential infrastructure, ensuring stable resettlement in disaster-prone areas severely affected by storm No. 10 and other natural disasters since early 2025.

In addition to closely monitoring the situation and issuing timely, decisive, and pragmatic directives, Party and State leaders have directly inspected the affected areas, inquired into the lives of residents, checked on and encouraged frontline forces engaged in flood response, rescue and relief efforts, disaster recovery, and the delivery of essential supplies to the people.

Storms and floods pass, but human love remains

Along with State resources, promoting the long-lasting tradition and culture of "helping each other", other resources continue to be mobilized to share the difficulties faced by people in flood-hit areas. In recent days, the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Dong Nai Provincial Police, has organized donations and transported about 30 tons of goods and necessities to support the northern provinces that suffered heavy damage due to storms and floods. After about a week since its launch, the donation movement has gained significant momentum, attracting a large number of people to participate and directly bring goods to support the cause.

Although false information and fake news about storms and floods have been repeatedly spread in an attempt to incite the public and sow division within the great national unity bloc, these isolated and toxic voices have failed to stir up a “storm” on social media. In times of hardship and loss, the spirit of national solidarity and brotherhood shines even more brightly.

During the flag-raising ceremony on October 13, staff, teachers and students of Le Van Tam Primary School (Tran Bien Ward, Dong Nai Province) joined hands to support people in flood-hit areas. Here, some students brought piggy banks to give to people and friends in the North.

According to Hoang Thi Thuy Nga, the school's Team Leader, before launching the campaign to support people in flood-affected areas, the school organized for students to view real photos depicting the storm and flood situation, along with the damage experienced by residents in various provinces and cities, including children their own age. Also shown were images of police officers, soldiers, and others assisting in rescue efforts and helping people recover from the aftermath of the flood. These vivid and authentic images helped evoke the spirit of "mutual love". They also fostered a sense of shared responsibility, encouraging students to understand more deeply and take part in supporting others with empathy and compassion.

Recently, the Trade Union of Grand Gain Footwear Manufacturing Company Limited (in Dong Xoai Ward, Dong Nai Province) donated more than 110 million VND through the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai Province. Thai Thi Huyen, Chairwoman of the Company's Trade Union, said: Through the media, knowing about the destructive damage caused by storms and floods to people in some provinces and cities, the Company's Trade Union launched a campaign to support, and received enthusiastic responses from many union members and employees in the company. Each contribution from employees not only has material value but also adds spiritual motivation, hoping that people in affected areas will soon overcome their difficulties and return to their everyday lives.

Joining hands with the rest of the country, Dong Nai province has been reaching out to people in storm- and flood-affected provinces and cities through practical and meaningful acts of solidarity. This endeavor reflects the enduring readiness of people across the country to support and stand by one another, especially in times of hardship and adversity. It further affirms the strength of the great national unity bloc and demonstrates the public's trust and broad social consensus in the policies of the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
