Flame of compassion lights everyday life

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, amid the daily grind to make ends meet, there are still those who quietly "sow seeds of goodness," adding meaning to each passing day.

Pink Flame Club on a charity mission

In Loc Ninh commune, Dong Nai province, the spirit of "giving is forever" is being powerfully spread through the Pink Flame Club, a gathering place for volunteers who share the same aspiration to donate organs, donate hair, share love, and spread humanistic values to the community.

Pink flame lights up the journey of love

The story of the Pink Flame began with the personal pain of its founder, Bui Thi Thu Phuong, a resident of Loc Ninh commune. When a relative of Phuong was diagnosed with cancer, witnessing the pain, the tears, and the complete hair loss of her aunt during radiation therapy gave Phuong a profound understanding of the value of sharing.

Driven by compassion and a desire to do something meaningful, Phuong decided to establish the Pink Flame Club, starting with small acts of humanity.

Phuong shared: “When I witnessed my relatives battling cancer, I truly came to understand the pain and despair that patients endure. Their hair gradually falling out, their bodies growing weaker, the sadness in their eyes... all of it haunted me. At that moment, I thought: if I could do something, no matter how small, to help ease their suffering, then life would be a little less painful.

To me, when I no longer exist in this world, the most precious thing I can leave behind is not wealth, but a part of my body that can help someone else go on living, breathing, and loving.

The saying 'Giving is forever' is not just a slogan, but the guiding principle of all members of the Pink Flame Club as a place where we live to share, to spread love, so that each passing day holds meaning.”

At first, it was just a few familiar members sharing the same charitable heart, but gradually, the Pink Flame has become a flame that spreads love in everyday life. Hair cut to donate to cancer patients, organ donation cards signed with emotion, charity trips to remote areas, all stem from a simple thing: when you can still give, do not hesitate.

Currently, the club has 21 core members, many of whom have personally registered to donate organs, hair, and blood. Beyond that, they actively advocate, raise funds, and provide support for the poor, patients under challenging circumstances, and disadvantaged children.

Tran Thi Ha, a long-time member of the club, shared emotionally: “I see many people around me suffering from illness and pain, so the blood I donate carries real meaning. It helps ease the pain of others. I believe that as long as I’m still healthy, I want to give whatever I can, such as blood, organ donation, whatever society needs, I’m always willing.”

It is from that quiet perseverance that the Pink Flame Club has become a powerful symbol of compassion in the land of love, Dong Nai, where hearts that know how to share are igniting the light of faith, humanity, and enduring life.

Giving lasts forever

If the Pink Flame was initiated from pain, its spreading journey was continued by sympathetic hearts.

Nguyen Ngoc Dat, a member of the club, shared: “I personally believe that once I’m gone, if parts of my body can help others, it is truly meaningful. Since joining the volunteer movement, I’ve realized that giving doesn’t mean losing as it makes me happier.”

That seemingly simple saying carries a profound philosophy of life. That is why, over time, the club has not only promoted organ and hair donation but also expanded into many other humanitarian activities, such as mobilizing blood donations, organizing visits to the sick, supporting underprivileged students, and giving Tet gifts to those in need. Each trip, each activity continues to kindle the flame of love within the community.

Le Thi Kim Tien, a young member, shared with emotion: “When I see people living without irreplaceable parts of their bodies, I feel deep compassion. The club members who came before me have set an example, and I take that as my motivation to participate in organ donation.”

Amid the hustle and bustle of life, the Pink Flame Club continues to regularly carry out charitable activities. They voluntarily contribute, mobilize resources, and organize heartfelt volunteer trips. Sometimes it’s a haircut for a cancer patient, sometimes a donation for someone in hardship, or simply a sharing session about the meaning of organ donation, but all of it comes from a compassionate heart.

What’s most special is that through each story, people are reminded of how small they are and how precious life truly is, because it is those simple acts that help us love more deeply and believe in goodness more fully.

From a haircut offered to bring hope, to an organ donation card bearing the message of extending life, each act of the Pink Flame is a gentle melody of compassion, soothing pain and warming hearts that once seemed cold. Amid life’s many changes, the Pink Flame continues to burn quietly, not brightly, but steadfastly; not loudly, but with broad reach. They have shown that wherever people know how to open their hearts and live for others, love will never run dry.
