On October 24 and 25, the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT), the Vietnam Association of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Radiological Technologists (HART), and Shing Mark Medical University Hospital jointly organized a seminar titled “Standardizing Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy Techniques: From International Standards to Artificial Intelligence”.

The seminar brought together more than 300 medical experts and doctors from countries including Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong (China), and Taiwan (China), as well as representatives from major hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province. Additionally, numerous specialists and physicians from other countries participated in the event virtually via Zoom and YouTube.

Every year, the ISRRT implements practical support programs for its member countries. The core objective of these programs is to promote continuous professional development for technicians working in the fields of radiology, medical imaging, and radiotherapy.

Accordingly, in-depth lectures delivered by leading international experts and scholars provide updated information on advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques, while also creating opportunities for international exchange of knowledge and experience.

This year, Vietnam is honored to be the member country selected by the ISRRT to host a specialized training program under this theme. The event is held under the patronage and direct professional support of the ISRRT, aiming to strengthen the capacity and update the specialized knowledge of technicians working in the fields of medical imaging and radiotherapy across the nation.

Tran Trung Kien, MSc, Level II Specialist and Head of the Oncology Department at Shing Mark Medical University Hospital, stated that holding the seminar at the hospital created favorable conditions for its doctors and medical staff to participate.

“Over the two days, we received hands-on guidance from experts on the application of artificial intelligence in radiotherapy for cancer patients. From there, we will be able to apply it to simulate and develop radiotherapy plans for patients,” Dr. Kien emphasized.

This year’s workshop focuses on applying artificial intelligence to enhance the precision and safety of patient treatment. From there, hospitals will have plans to put it into practical application for each unit.
