100-year-old woman donates one month of her pension to support people affected by storms and floods

The Red Cross Society of Dong Nai province held a ceremony on October 7 to launch a donation campaign in support of people affected by storm No. 10.

According to Chairman Nguyen Tan Hung, responding to the “Joining hands to overcome floods” campaign launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the appeal of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai province, the Executive Committee of the Red Cross Society of Dong Nai province called on organizations and individuals to actively contribute (money and goods) to help residents in provinces heavily affected by storm No. 10.

The provincial Red Cross Society committed that all resources contributed by benefactors will be used for the intended purposes.

The campaign to mobilize and receive donations will run from October 3, 2025, to October 31, 2025. Contributions can be made directly at the Red Cross Society of Dong Nai province, No. 03 Hoang Minh Chau, Tran Bien ward, Dong Nai province, or via bank transfer to the account: Red Cross Society of Dong Nai province, account number 20251234, VietinBank Binh Phuoc Branch, with transfer details: name of organization/individual + “Joining hands to overcome floods” 2025.

Immediately after the appeal, the provincial Red Cross Society received more than 68.5 million VND from individuals and organizations. Among them, Nguyen Thi Huong, a 100-year-old woman, asked her grandchildren to take her from Tam Phuoc ward to the headquarters of the provincial Red Cross Society to donate one month of her pension (4.65 million VND) in support of people affected by the storm and floods.

Huong shared that her wish was to make a small contribution through the provincial Red Cross Society to support those affected by natural disasters. She expressed hope that more people would join the effort each day to help flood victims overcome the aftermath and rebuild their lives.
