The Long Thanh International Airport Job Fair, held on 23 August at 3A Park, An Phuoc commune, Dong Nai province, attracted a large number of students and pupils. They came not only to seek information and job opportunities but also to demonstrate serious preparation for their future career paths.
Proactive steps taken to embrace job opportunities at the airport
Pham Thi Hang, a fourth-year accounting student at Dong Nai University, Tam Hiep ward, shared: “Once Long Thanh International Airport comes into operation, there will be a wide range of job opportunities. I hope to be fortunate enough to secure a job at the airport. To achieve this, I have started preparing early, particularly by improving my English proficiency and soft skills. I have enrolled in external courses and plan to obtain a language certificate to strengthen my competitiveness."
Le Oanh My, a final-year student majoring in Airport Management at the Vietnam Aviation Academy and a resident of Loc An commune, has also made thorough preparations with a clear roadmap since high school. Her determination to pursue an aviation career began in 2021, when ground was officially broken for the Long Thanh International Airport project. At that time, she applied to her first-choice program in Airport Management at the Vietnam Aviation Academy and later interned in her chosen field at Vietjet. Beyond academic study, My has focused on honing her English, developing essential skills, and paying attention to personal presentation, as appearance is also a professional requirement in the aviation industry.
With this careful preparation, My confidently applied for a ground staff position at Vietjet. “The Long Thanh International Airport Job Fair offers preferential recruitment policies for local residents. I am glad because I am on the right track,” she said.
High school students are also seeing the wide range of job prospects at Long Thanh International Airport. Tran Nguyen Phuong Anh, a 12th grader at Long Thanh High School, Long Thanh commune, said she plans to study marketing, anticipating future opportunities aligned with the growth of Long Thanh Airport City. She hopes to return to work in Long Thanh, where she can develop her career in her hometown.
“During my studies, I will actively join extracurricular activities to improve my soft skills and concentrate on learning English to meet recruitment requirements,” Phuong Anh noted.
Job opportunities at Long Thanh are also attracting students from other localities. Pham Viet Hung, a third-year student in Automotive Engineering Technology at Mien Dong College, Binh Phuoc ward, shared that his school sent 100 students to the job fair. He expressed readiness to work at the airport even if it meant living far from his family.
According to Trinh Thi Tram Anh, Director of the Centre for Enterprise Cooperation at Van Hien University, the school arranged for over 80 students to participate in the fair. She emphasised that the diverse job opportunities offered by the airport would benefit not only students in Dong Nai but also workers from neighbouring provinces, provided they proactively prepare themselves.
Manual workers feel confident to seize new opportunities
Not only students, but also workers with general education backgrounds, are seizing opportunities at the Long Thanh International Airport Job Fair. Many of them have shown a willingness to adapt and take on new roles.
Pham Thi Ngoc Lan, an over 40 year-old resident of Long Thanh commune, once worked at a company before leaving to focus on household duties and childcare. Upon learning about the Long Thanh International Airport Job Fair, she applied online for two positions: cook and driver.
“I hold a vocational diploma and previously worked in human resources, but at my age, it is harder to compete with others for such positions. Therefore, I decided to apply for jobs such as cooking or driving. These job positions require only a high school diploma, but experience in cooking or holding a driver’s licence is an advantage. As a local resident, I also hope to receive some priority,” Lan said.
Similarly, Nguyen Viet Minh from Phuoc Tan ward, after hearing about the fair on social media, registered online to apply for a baggage handler position. He is currently working as a factory worker, but hopes to change his career. Beyond finding a suitable job, he hopes working at Long Thanh International Airport will provide future opportunities for professional growth.
“Besides professional skills, having foreign language ability and experience in similar work environments is a great advantage. I feel confident, which is why I applied at this first Long Thanh International Airport Job Fair,” Minh shared.
Long Thanh International Airport is not only a national key infrastructure project but also a catalyst for reshaping the regional labour market. From students to manual workers, everyone can find opportunities here for themselves, provided that they are proactive, confident, and willing to learn.
