The Long Thanh International Airport Job Fair, jointly organised by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the Department of Education and Training, and the Department of Home Affairs of Dong Nai province on August 23, created an opportunity for employers to connect with workers, students, and pupils in order to proactively prepare human resources for the initial operational phase of Long Thanh International Airport.

At the job fair, workers were introduced to various professions and specific requirements in the aviation sector, helping them to be better prepared to seize new employment opportunities.

A wide range of attractive job positions

Given the strong appeal of the aviation industry, the job fair attracted nearly 10,000 students from intermediate schools, colleges, universities, and high schools, along with workers seeking employment, particularly residents whose land had been reclaimed for the Long Thanh International Airport project and surrounding areas. With more than 4,000 vacancies available in positions such as ground services, air traffic management, and air transport, participants had the opportunity to find jobs that matched their abilities and met the recruitment needs of employers.

According to Le Thi Hoang Oanh, Deputy General Director of Saigon Ground Services Joint Stock Company (SAGS), to meet staffing requirements in the early operational phase of Long Thanh International Airport, the company is recruiting personnel in positions such as baggage handling, equipment repair, aircraft cleaning, and equipment operation. Average monthly salaries range from VND 15 million to 20 million, accompanied by benefits such as statutory insurance system, periodic health checks, mid-shift meal allowances, holiday and Lunar New Year (Tet) bonuses, and annual vacation trips. Employees with strong performance will also be considered for salary increases and promotion opportunities.

Long Thanh International Airport is a national key project, requiring not only sufficient numbers of employees but also high-quality personnel capable of meeting the industry’s specific standards and demands.

According to Oanh, each job position has its own requirements; some only require a high school diploma, diligence, good health, ambition, and willingness to work in shifts. Priority is given to workers from Dong Nai province, especially those seeking a career in the aviation industry. "After recruitment, employees will receive training to quickly adapt to their roles and benefit from welfare policies to improve their quality of life," she noted.

At the job fair, Vietnam Airport Ground Services Company Limited (VIAGS) announced more than 400 job openings, including passenger service staff, load controllers, cargo handling supervisors, flight coordinators, ground equipment maintenance and repair staff, professional and operational officers, information technology specialists, ground equipment operators, baggage and cargo handling staff, and aircraft cleaning staff…

Luu Hoang Minh, Deputy General Director of VIAGS, stated that the company had created QR codes for applicants to access job information and submit applications online. Applicants are required to have foreign language proficiency, strong communication skills, confidence, the ability to work under pressure, and good numerical ability. Successful candidates will receive direct training at Tan Son Nhat International Airport before taking up positions at Long Thanh Airport.

ACV itself is also recruiting approximately 1,400 specialized personnel, including engineers in charge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, chemical analysis engineers... Additionally, administrative positions in finance, accounting, and passenger terminal operations are open, as well as jobs that do not require advanced qualifications, such as drivers, security staff, baggage handlers, and souvenir sales staff. The corporation requires candidates to demonstrate discipline, good health, teamwork, and effective communication skills.

Preparing human resources for Long Thanh International Airport is not only an urgent task but also a long-term socio-economic development strategy. With joint efforts from the Government, ministries, local authorities, and enterprises, the airport is expected to become a new highlight in Vietnam’s aviation industry, offering sustainable employment and development opportunities for Dong Nai province.

Meeting staffing needs in the initial operational phase

As a national key aviation infrastructure project, Long Thanh International Airport is in its final preparation stage to meet the schedule for Phase 1 operations in 2026. It is estimated that about 14,000 staff members will be required, including more than 5,000 with university degrees or higher, over 2,000 with college or vocational qualifications, and the rest being unskilled workers. The workforce will encompass a wide range of fields, including aviation services, air traffic management, air transport, logistics, and security.

Nguyen Cao Cuong, Deputy General Director of ACV, stated that Long Thanh International Airport is one of the nation’s key infrastructure projects of strategic significance. The project aims to become a leading regional and global aviation hub. For such a landmark project to operate effectively, the decisive factor lies not only in infrastructure and technology, but also in human resources - a dedicated and professional workforce of managers, engineers, specialists, and operational staff. ACV led the organization of the job fair, opening numerous career opportunities for students and enthusiastic young workers.

“ACV is committed not only to recruitment but also to long-term support of employees in training, skills development, and career growth. In its recruitment activities, ACV prioritises residents of Dong Nai, especially households affected by land reclamation for the airport project,” Cuong noted.

To proactively secure the workforce both inside and outside the airport, the Dong Nai provincial People's Committee has approved the human resources training Project for Long Thanh International Airport in the 2024-2030 period, focusing on training 4,800 local workers based on job requirements. Specifically, 1,600 workers will be trained during 2024-2026 period, and an additional 3,200 during 2027-2030 period. Local residents, particularly those households within the project area, will receive financial support for vocational training and preferential job placement.

Training will cover the operation of ground equipment, passenger services, logistics, flight coordination, and tourism services around the airport. The training programme spans airport operations, aviation security, technical maintenance, logistics, hospitality, commerce, tourism, and finance. This is not only vocational training but also a socio-economic welfare strategy for sustainable development, prioritising land-reclaimed households and local youth, coupled with recruitment commitments from aviation enterprises.

Ensuring continuous training for smooth operation

To prepare human resources for Long Thanh International Airport in its initial operational phase, ACV spent more than a month organising the job fair, which attracted seven participating enterprises. We are delighted that more than 9,000 people have registered, demonstrating the great interest among workers. Human resources are crucial for the successful operation of Long Thanh International Airport, and we expect the successful candidates this time will meet the required quality standards. Aviation enterprises will continue to provide training to ensure smooth operations from the outset.

Creating a workplace environment for workers to thrive

ACV aims to build a workplace where every individual has the opportunity to maximize their potential, contribute value, and play a vital role in strengthening the competitiveness of Long Thanh International Airport once it is operational. This is not only an opportunity for workers to find employment but also a journey to affirm their capabilities and help build a modern, civilised, and friendly airport.
