Waterway safety inspections intensified ahead of the Vietnamese National Day (September 2) holiday

On August 29, the Dong Nai Department of Construction announced that to ensure waterway traffic safety during the September 2nd National Day holiday, the Department of Construction has requested the Dong Nai Inland Waterway Port Authority to coordinate with traffic police and relevant agencies to strictly control cross-river passenger ferry terminals and transport vehicles, especially in areas with high passenger volumes.

Specifically, functional forces will step up inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, including being fully equipped with life-saving equipment, carrying the correct number of passengers, and implementing fire prevention and control measures on vehicles. Violations will be strictly addressed, including the suspension of unauthorized ferry terminals and vehicles that fail to meet safety standards. At the same time, cases involving vehicle operators without appropriate licenses or professional certificates will also be dealt with resolutely.

The Department of Construction also requested port and inland waterway terminal management units to strengthen propaganda and urge terminal owners to strictly comply with regulations on traffic safety and waterway transport business conditions.

Earlier, on August 25 and 26, leaders of the Traffic Police Department under Dong Nai Provincial Police directly oversaw working groups conducting on-site inspections at ferry terminals, boat landings, and mooring areas. The operation aimed to identify and address violations promptly, and to remind terminal operators and boat captains to comply with safety regulations, especially the full provision of life jackets and life-saving equipment for passengers during the holiday period.
