(ĐN) - On the morning of August 16, the Dong Nai Red Cross Association coordinated with the Blood Transfusion Center of Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) and Dong Nai General Hospital to organize a voluntary blood donation program. This program is part of the "Red Blood Drops - Summer 2025" Campaign.

A large number of medical staff, hospital employees, workers of Dong Nai General Hospital, along with patients’ relatives and local residents, actively participated in the program. As a result, the organizers received nearly 500 units of donated blood.

Dr. Nguyen Tat Trung, Specialist Level I, Head of the Planning - General Department and Secretary of the Youth Union at Dong Nai General Hospital, said: Previously, Cho Ray Hospital supplied the hospital with about 300 units of blood per week. However, recently, due to a shortage of blood reserves, the hospital has only been supplied with around 200 units, leading to insufficient blood for emergency and treatment.

Therefore, the hospital coordinated to organize a blood donation program to have more blood reserves, meet demand for emergency and treatment work, and help patients in need of blood have better treatment opportunities. In the near future, the hospital will coordinate efforts to implement more voluntary blood donation campaigns.

Ha Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Red Cross Society, said: After receiving donated blood at Dong Nai General Hospital, the Blood Transfusion Center of Cho Ray Hospital will screen and distribute it to hospitals in the Southeast region. This is very significant because it is currently the peak period of blood shortage. Having hundreds of additional blood units will help hospitals have more blood reserves, serving emergency work and better treating patients.

*Previously, on the morning of August 15, the Dong Nai Provincial Red Cross Association, in coordination with the Cho Ray Hospital Blood Transfusion Center and Thuan My ITO Dong Nai Hospital, held a voluntary blood donation program at Bien Hoa Church.
