"Musical feast” held for psychiatric patients

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2), on the morning of August 26, the Central Psychiatric Hospital No. 2 organized a program applying music therapy, along with a ceremony to review and present awards for contests held for psychiatric patients.

During the program, psychiatric patients undergoing treatment at the hospital performed a variety of vibrant musical acts. In particular, doctors, nurses, hospital staff, and the patients enjoyed performances by People’s Artist Ta Minh Tam, former Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music; Master – singer Ngoc Khoa, vocal lecturer at Dong Nai Intermediate School of Culture and Arts; singer Nhung Rita, along with several other singers. They presented energetic and inspiring songs that carried uplifting messages about meaningful living.

People’s Artist Ta Minh Tam interacted with the patients, performing songs such as Faith in Victory, Love Song, and The Nation in Complete Joy. He shared his delight in listening to the patients sing and dance, saying it gave him fresh musical inspiration and renewed faith in life.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Thang, Director of Central Psychiatric Hospital No. 2, emphasized: “Music is an indispensable spiritual nourishment for all of us. For psychiatric patients, music therapy helps them relax mentally, overcome feelings of stigma about their illness, and serves as a remedy that awakens positive emotions, supporting them in reintegrating into their families and communities sooner.”

During the event, the organizers also presented awards to patients and hospital departments who won prizes in music and sports contests held in celebration of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2).
