Memorial ceremony held in honor of heroic martyrs in Dong Nai

On August 26, at the Southeastern Martyrs Temple in Tan An Commune, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee and the Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee jointly organized a grand memorial ceremony to honor and pray for the heroic martyrs, marking the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).

Attending the ceremony were Ton Ngoc Hanh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of Dong Nai People’s Council; Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Huynh Thi Hang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, along with Members of the Provincial Standing Party Committee, provincial officials, leaders of departments, sectors and localities.

On behalf of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee (VBSCC), Supreme Elder,  Most Venerable  Thich Thien Nhon, Chairman of the Executive Council, attended the event, together with leaders of the VBSCC and the Buddhist Sangha Executive Boards in Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Supreme Elder,  Most Venerable  Thich Thien Nhon emphasized that the event was an occasion to remember President Ho Chi Minh and the generations of predecessors and heroic martyrs who devoted their lives for national independence, freedom, and the people’s happiness. Over the past 80 years, under the leadership of the Party and State, Vietnam has achieved important milestones in development and integration. Throughout this process, the VBSCC has always walked alongside the nation, pursuing the mission of “Dharma – Nation – Socialism.”

On this occasion, Supreme Elder,  Most Venerable  Thich Thien Nhon, also called on monks, nuns, and followers to continue promoting the patriotic tradition, fostering solidarity, and accompanying the authorities and people in building a prosperous and thriving nation.

On behalf of provincial leadership, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee Huynh Thi Hang extended gratitude to the VBSCC’s Executive Board and monks, nuns, and Buddhists for coordinating in organizing the memorial.

According to Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee Huynh Thi Hang, the ceremony was an occasion to express deep gratitude for the noble sacrifices of the heroic martyrs, thereby nurturing national pride and responsibility in nation-building and protection. She stressed that the event carried profound meaning, demonstrating the spirit of responsibility, compassion, and solidarity of Buddhism towards the country’s development and the people’s peace and happiness, while continuing to promote patriotism and national unity.

During the program, delegates, monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers held a memorial service to express heartfelt gratitude to the heroic martyrs in accordance with Buddhist rites.

Also at the event, the organizers also presented tokens of gratitude to 30 policy beneficiary families and handed out 1,000 gifts to disadvantaged residents.
