Legal dissemination and promotion on gender equality for officials and Women’s Union members

(ĐN) - On August 16, the Department of Justice of Dong Nai province, in collaboration with the Long Thanh commune People’s Committee and the Women’s Union of Long Thanh commune, held a conference to disseminate and promote legal regulations on gender equality for about 200 officials and members of the commune’s Women’s Union.

At the conference, delegates listened to the special topic “Gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence, presented by Master, Provincial Legal Reporter Tran Hanh (Head of the Faculty of Medicine – Pharmacy – Basic Sciences of Dong Nai Medical College). The content clarified concepts and principles of gender equality; citizens’ rights and obligations; as well as prohibited acts such as discrimination and gender-based violence. Specifically, the presenter shared real-life examples and legal scenarios to make it easier for officials and Women’s Union members to understand and apply in handling work effectively.

In addition, the organizing board provided related documents (such as the Law on Gender Equality 2006; Government Decree No. 48/2009/ND-CP dated May 19, 2009 on measures to ensure gender equality; and Government Decree No. 125/2021/ND-CP dated December 28, 2021 on administrative penalties in the field of gender equality) for officials and members of the Long Thanh Women’s Union to further study legal provisions on gender equality.

The conference on disseminating and promoting law is a practical activity aimed at helping grassroots officials and Women’s Union members update their basic knowledge on gender equality in various aspects of social and family life; understand clearly the responsibilities of agencies, organizations, families, and individuals in implementing and ensuring gender equality. Especially, it helps officials and Women’s Union members identify and distinguish types of gender-based violence, and recognize their role in assisting and counseling victims of gender-based violence.
