Dong Tam transforms for a breakthrough

Guided by the motto “Strengthening the building of a pure and strong Party Committee and political system; upholding revolutionary traditions; innovating and creating; developing science and technology; promoting comprehensive digital transformation; and resolutely building Dong Tam Commune into a prosperous, cultured community”, the Party Committee, local authorities, residents, and businesses of Dong Tam Commune are leveraging advantages, removing bottlenecks, and getting ready to enter a new development stage, working together to make Dong Nai one of Vietnam’s most developed provinces.

For the benefit of the people

From early morning until late evening, even on weekends, the Dong Tam Commune Public Administrative Service Center remains open, operating under the principle of a friendly government that serves the people. Many land-related administrative procedures have been streamlined, eliminating overdue cases and restoring strong public trust.

Nguyen Tan Cong, from Dong Tam 1 Hamlet, shared: “In the past, handling land papers took a lot of time. Since the commune took charge of this area, officials have given clear guidance, so people don’t have to make repeated trips. It truly reflects the spirit of ‘serving the people first.’”

Alongside efforts to fulfill key tasks, patriotic emulation movements to welcome the 2025–2030 Party Congress at all levels have been launched throughout the political system, social organizations, and community. Projects are being carried out effectively, such as the Youth Union’s gift of a new home to Doan Van Xuat’s family in Dong Tam 1 Hamlet. With financial support of 80 million VND, the house became a major source of motivation for the family to improve their lives.

Xuat recounted: “As the main breadwinner in the family, after a work accident injured my spine, I couldn’t do heavy labor, and our finances suffered. My dream of a sturdy home seemed impossible. Thanks to the Youth Union and the commune’s organizations for building us this house, I’m deeply grateful and will encourage my wife and children to work hard to change our lives.”

Dong Tam Commune Youth Union Secretary Doan Thi Nhuan noted that building homes for young people is among the projects responding to the emulation call in celebration of the upcoming Party Congress, thereby contributing to spreading Vietnamese people’s spirit of mutual support and compassion and boosting patriotic emulation among local youth,” she said.

Towards a green economy

Following the merger of the former Dong Tam, Dong Tien, and Tan Phuoc communes, the new Dong Tam Commune now spans over 24,800 hectares, offering ample potential to develop a green economy. By identifying bottlenecks and unlocking local advantages, the commune is focusing on high-tech agriculture in tandem with eco-tourism.

One example is a 3-hectare organic orchard combining citrus nobilis and green-skinned pomelos run by Pham Thi Thanh Tam in Dong Tien 4 Hamlet. Over eight years ago, recognizing the fertile soil’s suitability for fruit trees, she chose a clean, sustainable farming model. Now in its ninth year, the orchard yields pomelos, oranges, and tangerines that bring her family a steady income.

Scientific and technological advances, combined with digital technology, are being widely adopted by local authorities, businesses, and farmers, producing clear economic benefits.

Nguyen Dang Ngai, Operations Manager of Ladona Tourist Area, Dong Tam Commune, shared: “On over 3 hectares, we’ve built an eco-resort to showcase local specialties. Next, we’ll introduce solar-powered equipment and advanced technologies, integrating digital transformation into high-tech agriculture for export within the tourism site. This will both promote local green products and enhance the visitor experience, while generating additional revenue.”

During the 2020-2025 term, the Dong Tam Commune Party Committee has focused on leading and directing the synchronous implementation of many solutions to effectively implement the resolution's targets. Notable achievements are: 6/6 economic targets exceeded the resolution. Of which, the local budget revenue reached 277% of the assigned target; The average revenue increase is from 6-10%. The whole commune currently has more than 100 enterprises and nearly 480 production and business households in operation. The commune has met the criteria of new-style rural areas and advanced new-style rural areas. With the advantage of large, fertile land; inter-regional traffic infrastructure and industrial parks will be favorable conditions for Dong Tam to promote production according to the chain and form new cooperatives and farms; at the same time, connect, attract and expand the space for strong development of the industrial, commercial and service sectors.

Dinh Van Ky - Party Committee Secretary and the People’s Council Chairman of Dong Tam commune stated: After the congress, we will implement three breakthrough programs, including adopting full-scale digital transformation to cut administrative processing times for citizens and businesses by at least 30%; applying high-tech agriculture linked with eco-tourism based on local strengths; and upgrading grassroots cultural infrastructure. Our ultimate goal is to ensure prosperity and happiness for the people.
