Accordingly, first, ninth, and twelfth graders will return to school as early as August 22, while students in other grades will return on August 28. The back-to-school schedule in the province closely follows the 2025–2026 academic calendar framework issued by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

For the opening of the 2025–2026 school year, all educational institutions across the province will hold their opening ceremonies simultaneously on the morning of September 5, in accordance with the national schedule.

The 2025–2026 school year marks the first academic year following the provincial merger. With a total of approximately 1.2 million students, Dong Nai ranks among the localities with the largest student populations nationwide, second only to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The 2025–2026 school year is also the first in which students from grade 1 to grade 12 will study under the new 2018 General Education Program.

To ensure thorough preparations for the opening and commencement of the 2025–2026 school year, especially under the increased decentralization of education management to the commune level, the Department of Education and Training (DOET) has advised the Provincial People's Committee to direct communes to accelerate the completion and commissioning of newly built or renovated schools, guide the recruitment of teachers, appoint and reappoint school administrators, and carry out procurement procedures for teaching and learning equipment.

In addition, the Department of Education and Training (DOET) continues to direct educational institutions to provide the best possible support for students who are children of officials and civil servants formerly from Binh Phuoc Province and now working in the new Dong Nai provincial center, helping them settle in and quickly adapt to their new learning environment.
