540 million VND granted to support people with disabilities, Agent Orange/dioxin victims

On the morning of August 15, the Center for Research and Capacity Development for People with Disabilities under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, in coordination with the Department of Health, the Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims, and the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities - Orphans and Poor Patients of Dong Nai province, organized a program to provide livelihood support and scholarships to people with disabilities and Agent Orange victims in Thien Hung commune.

The program is part of the supportive project to help improve quality of life for people with disabilities in provinces where Agent Orange/dioxin was heavily-sprayed, funded by the U.S. Department of State.

Upon surveys, 29 eligible cases of people with disabilities and Agent Orange/dioxin victims were selected from the communes of Thien Hung, Hung Phuoc, Tan Tien, Da Kia, and Bu Gia Map for implementation over 2 years (from 2024 to 2026). The total support provided in the program amounts to 540 million VND.

On average, each case received 18 million VND in support, depending on their occupation and work; the highest supportive amount was 24 million VND per person.

The project to support livelihoods for people with disabilities and Agent Orange/dioxin victims shows care, assistance, and creates conditions for beneficiaries to engage in suitable work, earn additional income, overcome difficulties, improve their lives, and strive forward.
