In the document, the Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Finance consider allocating 1,365 billion VND for the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee to repair national highways passing through the province.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, in accordance with Decision No. 1367 of the Ministry of Finance on the transfer of road infrastructure assets, the Ministry of Construction has handed over to the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee the management of road infrastructure assets for National Highway 1 (from Km 1851+714 to Km 1871+150); National Highway 20 (from Km 0+000 to Km 75+100); National Highway 51 (from Km 0+000 to Km 37+402) and National Highway 56 (from Km 0+000 to Km 18+020).
Dong Nai is a gateway province to the most dynamic key economic region of the Southeast, with most major traffic routes passing through it, so the national highway system in the province is heavily impacted and experiences many damages. In the past, the national highways have received attention from the Ministry of Construction (formerly the Ministry of Transport) for repairs and overcoming many damages.
However, the current situation still shows many damages, especially on National Highway 51. Currently, this national highway is severely degraded, with the road surface heavily damaged almost entirely (from Km 0+900 to Km 16+000); conditions include asphalt upheaval, road surface peeling, rutting, potholes, faded and ineffective road markings, etc.
Therefore, repairing the national highways in the province, especially National Highway 51, is an urgent need to ensure traffic safety for vehicles circulating on these national highways.
In the past, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has sent many documents requesting the Ministry of Transport (now merged with the Ministry of Construction) and the Vietnam Road Administration to promptly inspect and review the current state of damage and inadequacies on national highways passing through the province. At the same time, it requested prioritizing the allocation of funds for maintenance, repair, and upgrading of the road surface, improving traffic infrastructure at severely damaged locations. In addition, it requested reviewing, adjusting, and supplementing the system of signs, traffic lights, and intersections to ensure safety and convenience for people and vehicles participating in traffic; strengthening coordination with local authorities to receive feedback and promptly handle traffic accident black spots and unsafe locations.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, the estimated total repair cost for National Highway 1 is 141 billion VND, National Highway 20 is 317 billion VND, National Highway 56 is 65 billion VND, and National Highway 51 is 842 billion VND.
