Programs for ethnic minority communities boosted

(ĐN)- Vice Chairman Nguyen Son Hung of the Dong Nai provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting to review ethnic affairs in 2024 and set tasks for 2025. He highlighted significant achievements in ethnic policies in 2024, including maintaining political security and social order in ethnic minority areas, successfully organizing ethnic minority congresses at district and provincial levels, and achieving a 100% high school graduation rate at the Provincial Ethnic Boarding School. Additionally, the province has implemented various preferential policies for ethnic minorities.

For 2025, he emphasized five key areas: strengthening the role of reputable individuals in ethnic communities and ensuring their selection adheres to proper criteria; preserving and promoting ethnic cultural values while preventing outdated customs and superstitions; proactively addressing concerns and resolving issues to foster unity among ethnic minorities; focusing on human resource development within ethnic communities; reviewing and supporting households in need to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing, ensuring no eligible families are overlooked.

Additionally, Dong Nai has merged the Ethnic Affairs and Religious Affairs Committees to enhance operational efficiency. The province is home to nearly 200,000 ethnic minorities from 51 different ethnic groups, with 206 individuals recognized as community leaders.
