The ministry has written to relevant organizations, associations and localities to survey and report on the labor markets in their areas.
Statistics from the ministry showed that some 149,000 workers lost their jobs while around 294,000 others were underemployed in the first three months of this year.
The workers were mainly from industrial parks and export processing zones in some provinces, such as Dong Nai with 32,600 workers, Binh Duong with 21,700 and Bac Ninh with 14,000.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will propose solutions to support workers who have lost their jobs and support businesses that have scaled down production and business activities.
