Nearly 800 workers at a footwear company in Dong Nai have just lost their jobs after the company closed due to a lack of orders.
The Dong Nai Provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs said on April 3 that the TKG Taekwang MTC Vietnam Company in Loteco Industrial Zone, Bien Hoa City had just laid off nearly 800 workers.
According to the company, they have been facing falling orders since late last year so have had to reduce the number of workers. The last 800 among over 2,000 workers were laid off in the beginning of April when the company decided to close.Authorities in Dong Nai have worked with the company's management board on policies for the unemployed workers. The provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has also worked with relevant agencies to help arrange new jobs for them.
Dong Nai Job Centre said that they have received over 12,000 applications for unemployment allowance since the beginning of this year.
